Confirmation that Griffin is retiring. Darn. He would have been fantastic off the bench this year.

Also, the family has been traded away. Now it’s your coworkers and time to crack the whip if needed.

Good. Grant being a vocal leader on this team was a problem. Smart had more of a claim to it, but even still.

This was always the last step needed for these two. Now it’s up to them to go from great players, to legendary players #18

That statement alone makes me think about the kind of problem you have when it’s not your best players leading the team. It’s time.

absolutely no more excuses for tatum whatsoever it’s time for him to put up or shut up. dude can’t go 0-19 in the first half of 3 straight playoff games and just shrug it off and watch guys like mazzulla take the blame. this is the NBA and a team will only go as far as its star player takes the team. so tatum needs to be the best player on the floor night-in and night-out. this roster is super talented but if he keeps having his jekyll-and-hyde shooting performances in the playoffs this team is gonna get bounced again, but this time he won’t have marcus smart to shoulder a ton of the blame. all of his issues are mental; he has the skill, athleticism, and tools to be the best player in the nba. he needs to take the next step.

Brown and Tatum will have to lead by example and that starts on the defensive end of the floor.

This is exactly why Marcus Smart needed to go. We need to see if the Jays have the ability to lead the team or not.
We know they do with skills on the floor. Do they have the ability to lead the locker room. Smart was always in the way there (I don’t mean this as a knock just a fact that he was older and more experienced).

Is this necessarily a good thing? Neither of them have very good attitudes consistently. Both are sulky and somewhat petulant at times. I love them both but truth is truth.

No more Marcus sitting in the coach’s chair 😅
