  1. It had to be more about nurse and all of our guards. They did less playmaking than the forwards..

  2. The bad man walks in silence. Why would I, as a general in an army, go in front of my enemies and tell them our plans of attack? Some of these vidcastors are upset that they can disseminate a plan before it goes into effect, all while sharing it with our competitors. Some have gone off the rails, am surprised they don't use the title of"Wishing on a Star" more often. I think that saying, "You are nothing but a number " plays heavily into their analysis of basketball as a whole. They have made basketball soulless. Take away one slave and add another. While watching some of them, you would think someone passed on. depressing frankly, or chasing their fantasy NBA picks. Thank you, sir, for keeping it lively and thoughtful.

  3. I think many people are thinking that he's talking about Pascal. Even Pascal seem to think so himself but I don't think that's the case at all…..He's actually talking about Nick Nurse and his "selfish" system of only playing the starters and keeping the bench on such a short leash…..

  4. I do not like how Masai is handling Pascal situation. That man out is sweat and tears into championship run. What as Masai surround Pascal more than scrub players

  5. Fair but pascal's demeanor was not really great . Maybe from all the trade talks. Bobby said they offered Portland the biggest offer ever. That makes me wonder who was offered. That said he will be paid and I think Darko will bring out a lot from him. Darko mentioned players cutting.

  6. Ooouuuhh man I felt the heat of MLSE management today. SOMETHING happened, shit rolls down hill… we all know that, we're working men. when the boss gets it, you REALLY get it. Masai got some heat from MLSE for sure. I got some suspicions but I wont get too crazy… but Pascal's job is in jeopardy. You know he's been talking to Fred bro. You can imagine what those conversations are like. "Bro I got 40 mil for not signing.. imagine what you get??". I got a feeling Pascal would be more selfish this season than any other season, he's got incentive to. Masai and the front office is getting ahead of this, you can feel it. If you hog the ball and take 10 dribbles before taking a bad shot against a double team, your ass is traded at the deadline. No playing to increase your value when free agency comes, and you walk for nothing and make us look bad again. That dude will be traded so fast bro. The raptors front office is toast if they let Pascal walk for nothing. If he doesn't play exactly how Masai wants, he's traded; regardless of the value we get back. I dont think anyones job in this organization is safe this season. You could feel it when Masai said " there will be no selfishness", Masai has never been so serious and stern. Nobody will be playing to get themselves a bigger contract in the off-season. He's not letting them do what Fred did to them, otherwise HIS ass is gone too. I'm excited to see how it all plays out this year. We're either going to have a cohesive team that plays team basketball, or it'll be a new team come trade deadline. Masai will be sending ya'll to Orlando, hope you like Magic.

  7. Chev how quickly you forget that in fourth quarter Pascal and Fred would resort to ISO ball which would lead to a turnover, a bad shot, or standing around by the other 4 players.

  8. For real tho. I have trust in Masai and the front office to do what they do. They calculated and they always got a Plan A to Z. All of these casuals just in their feelings and living in the moment, I get it. Give the new coaching staff and system a chance. Stay the course. Lets rock.

  9. I listened. Selfish… he was talking about FVV perhaps as well. I saw it all season and sure 10 to 12 shots a game for FVV, not 25! And so it is the obvious. There is no surprise here. But look at SB and OG. MY GOD. Those two are beasts now. Strong as one could ever imagine. Ever play a 6'10 guys at 240lbs? And Pascal, yes, what was he to do? He was the scoring engine, it was his role given to him by NN. The slivers have been removed now… listen to the players, from Gary to Barnes… FVNVN are gone. In my head, what I was thinking what, apparently, is what Masai was thinking, which was anyone who knows basketball was thinking. If Pascal can show he is in with this team, and I mean Barnes and OG, he stays. Simple as that.

  10. Masai really needs to shut up about the selfishness crap because we all know it was only FVV now he’s gone yet Masai keeps bringing it up like it’s still there.

  11. Masai gon shock the system like he said at his end of season press conference.

  12. The reporters were setting traps like crazy today trying to stir up trouble and get crazy quotes. Guys did a good job avoiding their nonsense for the most part. They tried to get Pascal to double down on the top 5 stuff and he made sure to let it be known his first priority is winning basketball. Some fans are taking Pascal having none of the reporters shit as him being dejected and they are obsessing over Masai's comment on selfishness while the comment these fans should be paying attention to is Darko saying that the other guys have to make good cuts when Pascal has the ball so he has good passing options.

  13. Unlike with FVV I will keep cheering for Siakam. He always worked hard and for the better of the team. He went from barely knowing how to play the game to a beautiful finish on top of his athleticism in 7 years.

  14. CHEV!!!… I Listened to your words intently. and the words you said towards then end made mad sense cause i was trying to put a word on it the whole offseason….
The selfishness of the team, and the burden that fell upon spicy… you quote selfishness comes from the players that miss easy buckets from passes or selfishness when they dont score when shooting. It all makes sense why masai harps on that one word… its not that he puts the burden on spicy but he is our leader and must be made example… the selfishness of the players comes from not being GAME READY AT THE READY and executing at an nab level, so when the pass comes to them, they are not missing the easy bucket, making the hard work of that execution deemed worthless, same goes for the ill advised or weaky shots..the hard work that the defense and transition puts in only to get a worthless shot back in the end for no bucket. All makes sense ie our selfishness in the play not our players. That why masai talks about it in a whole….and that where the disconnect comes, which i couldnt put my finger on it…and i think thats where darko comes in for our PREPARATION. to make sure that selfishness doesnt continue, through better exection, team play and PREPAIRDNESS.the SYSTEM, which coach and players have to help direct them to a better positionless basketball and team chemistry. If that all works out, we will definitely see that disconnection between players and coach be lifted.

  15. Now that Masai dodged a bullet and did not trade for Dame, he now needs to focus on signing both Pascal and OG for longer term contracts. If he could afford Dame then we can now afford to sign his guys before their loyalty runs out.

  16. So judging from the all of the interviews it seems like Nurse and Fred were the problem. The players aren’t throwing Fred under the bus but Gary kinda made a comment that made it seem like Nick wasn’t 100 with him

  17. Pascal is a great player and a good man, he deserves better than this, he is the best hardworking player and only 1 key player left from the championship run (OG and Boucher did not played!) When he said he likes to win and play games with joy, I noticed some sadness and discomfort on Q and A. I would rather see him playing in the contending team than wasting his Prime babysitting scottie, precious, flynn and more!!! We all know how they played last season not just fred selfishness, but players surrounding him coming to games not prepared!!!Pascal deserves his bag and respect!! I would rather see him reunite with Kawhi or play with Embiid!!! Poor Raptors, sell this franchise please, it's sad but true Hornets 2.0😢😢😢

  18. Masai's message was loud and clear and those selfish players no who they are. Can't wait to see how this season unfolds. I'm pumped, go Raptors!

  19. You're 100% right. These fans must be ignorant or super new.

People have forgotten how often Kyle and Masai used to clash.😂 They almost traded Lowry's ass during the mid-trade deadline in the season for Conley. This was during the championship season run mind you.

Now they're close and all is forgiven and Lowry is a cemented Raptors legend.

People forget that winning isn't easy.

If anything any selfish comment was aimed at OG and Gary.

I see Masai emphasizing that this is a TEAM and not one person is above it.

And if Pascal was ever traded it would be for a Top 75 player like Giannis.

  20. When asked how he can guarantee there will be no more selfishness… Masai's lips trembling to not slip out because Nick Nurse is in Philly…

  21. This was the most uncomfortable media day ever. The tension was pretty thick. I really hope this team turns it around.

  22. Toronto sports media is definitely in the top 5 as one of the worst and it seems like the couch analyst just had selective hearing listening today and are in their feelings

  23. Great video. Love how you broke down personal and professional pace. God damn you the goat for real. ☑️☑️🎤🎤

  24. System has to be the star. That is right! We saw that in Spurs and some extent GSW but they do have the best shooter of all time. When Poole that he was bigger than the program he was shipped out. Same with Kawhi.

  25. Masai picked Siakam, he believes in him, he just wants to see what he can bring when challenged in a new system, Masai isn't calling Siakam selfish he's just saying he played on a selfish system last season.. the ball will find who needs to score…. Just start the season im not reading into shit anymore

  26. Read the room y’all…Siakam is out of here by deadline, if not earlier, if he sulks 😂😂😂

  27. I really need to hear this.. Thank You Chev for making senses of it all despite the negativity i've read in twitter from Raptors media. You really an asset to the fanbase. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  28. Easy way to tell someone's opinion is not worth listening to – they want to get rid of Masai.

  29. Haven't listened to the Masai video but could the selfishness be about Vanvleet going for the bag last season?

  30. All I can say is Pascal had 51 out of 82 games where he scored over 20+ pts. That's over 60% of the time where he scored heavily. If you add the games where he was 15+ pts it goes from 60%.

  31. I'm in shock at Masai Ujiri's statements about he won't put up with selfishness ! Where was he the last few years??? He could have reigned in or fired Nurse for allowing the SELFISHNESS to continue.

  32. I also think he could be making statements for PR purposes and there is another strategy for this team going forward. He's not going to give up the plans for the team. All I know is he is not on the floor playing the game. He is up in the office making and mostly not making trades and helping us lose major player assets without getting anything in return.
