But indeed in the finals it haunted the Heat, since the Nuggets dont settle for 3s and cut hard to the basket. If they can make Porzingis do some Jokic things (e.g. passing to cutters from the high or low post), it will make them more flexible rather than a one-dimensional offense.

I think he is being facetious. He knows the key to this team will be defense 1st. And you have to know the question was asked by Gary Washburn who has somewhat of a contentious relationship with Joe.
I don't see the controversy about what Joe is saying. Is he wrong about the three point shot being an important part of the offense? If you have nine players that shoot threes well, should you not use that strength? If anything, he acknowledged that in some situations, you should get away from shooting threes if necessary. Some of you must not have watched the whole interview.
