De’Aaron Fox on Sasha Vezenkov, the reigning EuroLeague MVP that the Kings signed: “It’s crazy how he shoots. One of our shooting drills, I think it’s 150 shots, and I think he missed 7. Like he is up there with some of the best shooters in the world,”

During the Kings’ media day, Vezenkov’s teammates showered him with praise.

> “Man, he shoots the (heck) out of the ball,” Fox said. “It’s crazy. One of our shooting drills, I think it’s like 150 shots, and I think he missed seven. … We want him to be comfortable and we want him to know he has a green light to shoot the ball.

> “He’s one of the best shooters in the world. That’s why you’re here. We want you to shoot the ball. If you think it’s a bad shot, it might not actually be a bad shot, but once he gets it going, man, it’s like the net’s not even moving. It’s crazy watching him shoot the ball.”

He has even impressed Kings guard Kevin Huerter, who was chosen to participate in the 3-Point Contest last season at All-Star Weekend.

> “Sasha shoots the hell out of the ball,” Huerter said. “He’s come in here and broken all our shooting records that we had last year. … He’s a shot maker, so he’s really exciting.”

The Micic signing got a little more attention, but I think this one will have a greater impact in the Kings’ offensive system

The Kings are gonna be so fun to watch, again.

  3. rimpressure

Doesn’t move me tbh. I think the kings likely regress and aren’t a top 3 seed this season

  4. asapshrank

kings had the most underrated free agency imo, getting sasha & duarte and only losing richaun holmes. they’re gonna be really good again imo

  5. As an Olympiakos fan, take care of our King, Kings 🥲

I understand why people have suggested the Kings will not be able to fight for the second or third seed again, they had (relatively) good health luck, teams around them had relatively bad health luck, and the Lakers took half a season to figure it out.

That said they lost no-one who was in the rotation, every player in their rotation except for Harrison Barnes either has not hit their prime yet or are just in the start of their prime, and Vezenkov is going to fit like a glove with this team. I really think the step forward is going to be bigger than a step backwards based on the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors suddenly becoming healthy teams.

Sabonis also said that Sasha is the best shooter on the team. Huerter said that Sasha broke the team’s offseason shooting records. If all of the hype translates on the court, then the Kings would’ve gotten a 40% 3P shooter for potato chips.

They will make the playoffs but probably top 6 tbh

I watched every minute of Euroleague. He looks like Klay. I predict he will be a top 3 shooter this year

Kings will be super fun and the speed and spacing will be great to watch but I’m not sure they have the defense to be true contenders. Reminds me a little of the old Nuggets or Warriors (not the title winners) that could put up 150 on any given night but could also give up 150.

Sasha and Vasilije are absolute killers. Can’t wait to see them in the NBA.

  12. LinuxDootTP

god i hope he gets to play his ass off. i hate when established euros come over and they are treated like rookies. utilize your players ffs!!!

  13. Btotherianx

Were they supposed to have the person spraying the fog in the picture it kind of ruins the allure of it

  14. lowellJK

The way they’re hyping this guy up is incredible. He’s not gonna do much. @ me if you want.

  15. RVAIsTheGreatest

One of the most underrated signings in free agency if this translates to games. Not only a great shooter but also an excellent all-around off ball scorer and smart ball mover. He’s should be a fantastic weapon for the Kings offensively this season and make their offense even more dynamic.

Man I forgot the Kings were due to reign in the west in a couple years. This NBA season is about to be so fun.

So hyped for this season. There are so many exciting teams to watch.

I’ll be interested to see if this guy can crack the starting lineup by the end of the year. If he’s as legit as people seem to suggest then he could be a game changer, but it’s probably better not to expect him to walk in and be that on day 1.

  19. dating_derp

But people on /r/nba will say how that’s typical for nba players. They’d rather believe players are lying than think they’re wrong.

  20. And we got him for a late 2nd round pick and the other team even added good ol cash consoderations.

  21. aubades

Wait, did they censor “hell” when DeAaron said it but they let Huerter say it??? looool

  22. jaydogggg

I’m excited to see how his skillset translates to NBA play.

  23. Altruistic-Drawing25

Sasha Vezenkov is objectively one of the best shooters in the world
