Malachi predictions for this season

He’s become thr butt of a lot of jokes over time with the Raptors. He gets exposed on the defensive end which is why he’d often get yanked by Nurse. He’ll be fighting for his NBA life and some level of respectability this season. Fred’s gone, so I’d imagine he’ll have a longer leash and actually be told what he’s doing wrong with a development-minded coaching staff. What are your predictions for Malachi this season?

He hasn’t shown more than maybe a month or two of solid play during his rookie season in Tampa. Probably gets first crack at 3rd string PG, but if Nowell flashes in the G-League I think Darko will give him a look in garbage time minutes.

This is his make it or break it year. If he can’t prove he can at least defend and hit open threes, he’s probably headed to Europe or another team’s G-League squad.

Nurse never put him as the P/R ball-handler where he thrived in college, maybe Darko gives him a longer leash but he tops out as a solid backup PG.

An honest-to-god, salt-of-the-earth, backup point guard.

Doesnt turn it over, scores around league efficiency for his position (on low voleume), gets the bench involved on offense.

Defense will still probably be a minus, but not so bad that our good defensive backcourt can’t cover for it.

Basically, just show enough that he’s worth a value deal for us, that’s tradeable when we need to upgrade.

He’s one of the better shooters on the team and if he has a chance to significantly increase his PnR frequency I think he will show utility. I’m intrigued to see him in a different context.

If we are predicting what Flynn will average, we’re already setup for failure.

if dennis starts he could get some mins off the bench

I don’t understand the Flynn Stans who think he’s going to magically become good…lol Listen, he’s good enough to be in the NBA but he is what he is at this point…he’s a 3rd or 4th PG on most rosters

He has the best chance he’ll ever get. He’s second behind Schroeder for PG. His only competition as backup PG is an undrafted rookie. He’s in his 4th year. He has a new coach focused on development. The team really needs someone like him to add value.

If he can’t stay on the floor this season, then he’s probably out of the league.

It would really help if had slightly better numbers than his rookie season but with less minutes.

    For example: 9ppg, 4ast, 15min.

It’s kind of weird how absolutely nobody is willing to take on the discussion that he may be better without Nurse.

Seems like everybody has given up on him

    I hope he comes back.
