The Toronto Raptors: Chasing Greatness or Embracing Failure..

The Toronto Raptors are heading into an uncertain season where it appears there is no clear direction for where the team is going. A difficult offseason has caused more problems within the roster but despite this, it was made clear at media day that the expectation is still for this team to be competitive. This was made explicitly clear in particular by Raptors president Masai Ujiri.

Fred VanVleet leaving the team in free agency to join the Houston Rockets was slightly softened by the addition of Dennis Schroder on the mid-level exception and this was preceded by the team drafting Gradey Dick and was followed by the signing of Jaden McDaniels on a bi-annual exception. Even so, it still feels like the roster is less equipped than it was last season on paper.

With a competitive mindset and what looks like a particularly uncompetitive team, where is the team really going this season and what can we actually expect from them?
