The 1989 Pistons Visit the White House

Following their sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1989 NBA Finals, the Detroit Pistons made their way to the White House in Washington D.C. to celebrate the first NBA championship in franchise history as guests of president George H.W. Bush. After bestowing a basketball and customized Pistons jersey upon the 41st president, Isiah Thomas took a moment to pay homage to former teammate and Bad Boys pioneer Rick Mahorn, who was selected in the expansion draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves immediately following the season’s end.

  1. This clip does have a postscript from motor city madness the 1988-89 nba season in review video

  2. That was cruel of the league to take Rick Mahorn off the team. But why didn't Detroit include him as one of the 8 players to protect from the expansion draft?
