Joe Mazulla implies Al Horford will start via Jared Weiss

Joe Mazzulla on backup center: “It starts with Luke. I thought Luke really did a great job last year. I think he’s an underrated player & I don’t think people realize how effective he is. He’s a guy that’s always in the right spot defensively (and) makes the right play.”

I think they are going to try a few different looks before the trade deadline and then reassess the situation.

    Sorry if that’s too logical.

  2. If White is moved to the bench yet again that’s such an injustice after how good he was last year.

  3. I think it’ll depend on matchups but I do think I like White better as a lead spark off the bench where he runs the offense

  4. Al is too old to be starting regularly, and we could really use him off the bench. Plus, White coming off the bench limits opportunities for Pritchard.

If this is the case, and say we only play Zingis/Horford/Kornet at the 5 – what do the minutes look like for each of them?

One could also interpret it as the Celtics playing Al as backup 4.

Bro just start white, he’s the better player, and he’s earned it. No reason to run all into the ground during the regular season.

  8. They will bench one of Al/KP and one of the Jays when the 7 minute mark of the 1st quarter hit. Like in 22 season with Rob and Al. Just gonna stagger the minutes

Some of the practice footage the Celtics put out the other day had Jrue Brown Tatum Horford and KP in starters green

id be happy if AL didnt play for a few months. even kp limited if we are planning a deep run should just build up the bench as much as possible

Well, the good news is that we’ll have back to back 6MOY winners if White starts off the bench.

That’s what I’ve been saying. Glad Joe’s going this route. White is way more important as the leader off the bench than he would be as the fifth best player in the starting lineup.

Lowe mentioned on his recent pod that it’s likely they toggle between Al and White as starters based on match-up and I agree with that prediction. BUT with Al and Zinger presumably missing some time this season, I think we’ll be seeing White in the starting lineup more often than not.

Y’all downvoted me to hell for saying White was coming off the bench lmao it is not an insult, obviously white is closing games

Just because Horford starts, doesn’t mean he’s going to play major mins.
