The Two Sided Debate of the Damian Lillard Trade Saga

With the entire Damian Lillard trade saga officially being done and Damian Lillard officially being a Milwaukee Buck the air can offically be cleared about Damian Lillard going to Miami and teaming up with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. However, throughout this entire Trade Saga there has been many debates about how Damian Lillard was treated and whether he should’ve been a Miami Heat or if the Portland Trailblazers should’ve treated him better. In this video I want to go over the Two sided debate of the Damian Lillard Trade Saga!

Chapters:
0:00 – 1:32 Intro
1:32 – 4:48 Prologue
4:48 – 10:12 How Damian Lillard’s Agent Ruined his Chances of going to the Miami Heat
10:12 – 17:26 Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks

  1. When I'm looking at the offer Miami had for Dame, Cronin was right to reject that deal, and had he accepted that deal he probably would've been fired on the spot.
Tyler Herro doesn't work with Scoot, Sharpe, and Simons. Which is why many of those proposals sent Herro to a 3rd team.
Duncan Robinson is useless and overpaid.
Jovic is a complete mystery to everyone. We need to see more from him.
And they ended up getting more picks from the real Dame trade and the subsequent trade of Jrue Holiday than they ever would've gotten from Miami.
At the end of the day, Dame signed that contract, and he didn't have a no-trade clause. As far as I'm concerned, that's where he lost all the leverage. The Blazers could've sent him to teams like the Pistons and Hornets if they believed they had the best possible package.

  2. Fantastic video as always, man. The idea that Portland “owed” Lillard his preferred destination spot was and will always be insane. They paid him hundreds of millions in contracts that Dane agreed to on his own volition. He didn’t have to take all that money, but he chose a huge amount of guaranteed money on multiple extensions. He could have been a free agent, but he chose the money. I don’t blame him for that at all, but Portland didn’t treat him unfairly or anything.

  3. It's fair even if they send him to a bad they were loyal enough to give him a super max with no path to a championship it's a business ffs

  4. Goodwin is such a shitty agent, I'm sure if they talked behind closed doors instead of publicly saying "he's only going to Miami, don't even try to trade for him!" Dame could have landed in Miami.

About rescinding the trade offer it was only so they could have more time to work on a trade offer.

We also have a much better GM now then we did when Dame started. He made horrible trades and picks.

  5. Yeah I'm surprised there's even debate about this trade. Maybe some of the finer details are a bit screwey, but in the end all teams came out better. Suns got some much needed depth, and a center who knows his role in Nurkic. Blazers put some pieces around Scoot and Simons and are lowkey looking like the Thunder from a few years ago (tons of young guys with lots of potential and draft capital). The Bucks not only are back in contention, but are proving to Giannis that they will build around him and Giannis is most likely going to extend his stay in Milwaukee now. Even if Giannis doesn't win a championship with Dame, I still think he's going to want to stay because the Bucks just proved that they're going to meet his needs, and will in the future. Great trade for the game of basketball, if you love basketball you love this trade.

  6. Portland could never win a championship with him as Batman I’m not sure he is even robin he might be the butler after Milwaukee sees he gives up more points than he scores Giannis will be ready to leave still plus they gave up all there future assets to get dame they in trouble

  7. I don’t like how Dame went about that request I’d be unhappy wit him if I was a blazers fan, good thing I’m a bulls fan so don’t really care like that

  8. Dame for Galinari Jr, a contract dump, and somebody who probably didn't even play 100 minutes last season plus 4 picks with at least two of them probably ending up to be mid. NEVER

  9. Stop adding what Portland got from Phoenix as what they got for dame cus the suns would of been a 3rd team in a trade if miami was in it. In the end after trading Jrue to boston they got what 3 1st round picks and swaps and the heat could of offered that plus herro duncan and JJJ or Jovic which I believe to be a better trade. To each their own i guess.

  10. What is unfortunate is Joe Cronin refusing to engage with the heat to find out their best offer.

  11. Great vid 💯
I do think Dame's loyalty was genuine to the city of Portland and its fans as he was about to rescind his trade request if no deals were made and was willing to go through training camp as well as play for the team unlike some star players, particularly Harden.

As a huge Dame fan, I hope he finally wins a ring or two in Milwaukee ❤️
