Two-big lineups aren’t fading in the modern NBA, they’re just changing

I’m actually really really intrigued by the Collins Wemby frontcourt in the long run. And Zach seems to just keep getting better the further he gets from his injury stuff.

The trick to make two-big lineups work has always been talent and complimentary skill sets. Even going back to the Twin Towers, that only worked because David Robinson and Tim Duncan were both so versatile and able to play off of each other.

The reason they went away for a while wasn’t that they didn’t work, but that there just weren’t very many elite big men that could make it (Anthony Davis being the only notable one, and he was stuck on the Pelicans). Now we have guys like Giannis, Mobley, and Wemby that can absolutely make it work and punish teams for not having the size to slow them down.
