You can't have an absolute and a might in the same sentence.
This team is woefully limited on top tier talent. DV is a solid role player on his best day and just an average role player base case. His ceiling is low, his star potential is zero and when the rest of the east and west is stockpiling star power the Knicks will be lucky to make the playoffs. Teams like the Magic, Pistons and Hornets have exponentially more talent and high ceiling future stars. I can’t think of one player on the Knicks with high level superstar potential. Jalen Brunson was a non max street free agent and never has made an all star team, Julius Randle is good scorer but a poor defensive player and both Brunson and Randle are nothing more than a solid #3 option on a championship roster best case scenario. Rj Barrett is a low upside inefficient chucker, Quickly is solid but no star potential, Grimes solid player but again zero start potential. If this team had Embiid they would still be maybe #3 in the east but the Knicks are a far cry below the Bucks, Celtics and Cavs. Yes, the Knicks beat the Cavs when they played abhorrently bad basketball, but a big 3 of Mitchell, Garland and Mobley/Allen vs a big 3/4 of Brunson, Randle, Donte and Rj is not even in the same conversation. Mitchell, Garland and Allen are all former All stars, Mitchell was a 4 time all star, 2nd team all NBA and 6th in mvp voting. Mitchell, Garland, Mobley and Allen are also 27, 23, 22 and 25 respectively and Mitchell just turned 27. Randel will be 29 next month, Brunson is 27, Donte 26 and Rj 23. The Knicks are in NBA no man’s land and outside of picks have very little in the way of young talent to make a big splash for a guy like Embiid.
Current fan duel odds for eastern conference race are as follows.
Bucks +175
Celtics +175
Cavs +750
Sixers +1000
Heat +1100
And the lowly Knicks are +1600 and a projected 6 seed.
I could easily see a team like the Hornets with Melo, Bridges, Rozier and Miller ousting the Knicks or even the Raptors with Siakam, Barnes and OG. The Knicks are toast and I am not sure why any Knicks fan is excited for season. Truly nothing to be excited about other than disappointment.
And can you stop yelling? Elevating your voice doesn’t elevate the Knicks and comes off as inauthentic and obnoxious.
