How the hell did he ever get as high 9

    That’s the real problem here

  2. Zeckzeckzeck

Isn’t he going to miss like 20 games or something from suspension? If these are season-specific rankings then lowering someone because they’ll be missing for a huge chunk of time is reasonable.

This is the same company that essentially swayed the MVP vote towards Embiid and said the Celtics were locks to win the finals even when they were down a few games to Miami, they don’t know ball they just want clicks

  4. AgadorFartacus

What they did to Derrick White is far more disrespectful.

  5. KarrotMovies

They dropped him a spot for each game he got suspended

The best ability is availability they say.

  7. Thunder-ten-tronckh

I appreciate ESPN for the extra motivation honestly. Ja’s about to have a great season.

  8. DrownedInBeans

Most important ability is availability and Ja is going to miss a minimum of 25 games.

    Call me a conspiracy theorist:

It’s going to be a lot harder to win without a favorable whistle.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he got a little bit of the AI treatment tbh.

9th was way to high and 35 is way to low. He is probably in that 16-21 range

  11. Sixers14

He is not a top 10 player but he is better than jrue holiday

  12. jamestemple01

Even while he’s suspended he’s top 20. 35 is crazy

  13. WhoopingKing

Austin Reaves and rj barett over herro is laughable

Silly. A most valuable player list…can understand 35. Not best player list. But it reflects how his talent on the court and his performance has been overshadowed to the point people are now underrating him as a basketball player.

Why do we care about ESPN’s abysmal content?

If you have to post about it why include a link?

At this point I just down vote all the ESPN posts I see.

This sub trying to justify this is embarrassing

  17. ESPN getting so many clicks from this stupid ass list lol.

You should probably stop reading after “ESPN ranked”

Well, thats what happens when they no longer want you to be the face of the league. Ja was on that trajectory… now he isn’t. If they don’t want you at the top, they won’t put you there.

I think Ja at times gets overrated because he has an all-time great level highlight reel. He doesn’t play defense, he doesn’t space the floor, his finishing at the rim is less efficient than people think, and his team still wins games with him out.

That being said, he’s one of the best passers in the league, impossible to keep out of the paint, a great rebounder for a guard, and totally unstoppable in transition. He plays hard, albeit not always under control. I would rank him somewhere in the 18-27 range.

35 is harsh. I think he’s been an all-star, but not quite all-nba level player, for the past 2 seasons. He definitely still could get there, but with the risk of injury due to his size and style of play, and of course all the stuff off the court, that doesn’t seem as certain it did a year ago.

In 5 years, he could be a top 5 player in the league or completely fall out of the top 50, and neither outcome would really surprise me lol

shows they base these rankings on who they personally like
