Full quote:
“It’ll be smooth because I’ve been in the league a long time. There are a lot of things that are familiar. I’ve played with Terry [Stotts] for nine years [in Portland]. A lot of stuff that we put in is stuff that I’ve done for a long time. So, it’s simple for me. I understand it. I know where to find myself within that. I understand these guys’ games. They’ve been in the league a long time and have played against them a long time. I know what they like to do just from being fans of the game and watching so many of their games.”

not meant at OP, but Sportskeeda is an unreliable source — so seeing the interview is a Sportskeeda “exclusive” isn’t assuring.

they have reported fake stuff frequently in other verticals (cricket, wrestling, etc)

I think this is the first time anyone’s raised this point about Stotts being on the coaching team on this sub. While the meshing of skills with Dame and Giannis is perfect, this is probably going to ease the transition even further.

Interesting that he cares about the coaching staff of a team he is demanding a trade to Miami from /s

Yeah, we’ve be seeing some different actions from the past in the preseason so far even without Dame and Giannis. A lot more horns actions than we’ve seen in the past. I’m expecting a lot more of Giannis screen and rolls out of the formation, which should be deadly with Dame.

It’s come up a few times on here but as u/Wild-Apricot-9161 noted it’s the first time it’s really been something anyone has dove in to, the fact Stotts is basically Milwaukee’s offensive coordinator, which is going to go a long way in Dame’s acclimation. In general Stotts is an excellent offensive mind who’ll know how to best get the most out of this unit.

It’s also been great to read Giannis willing to give the keys to the offense to Dame and allowing Dame to really work his magic with him…and in the PnR they’re gonna be magic.

  6. Terry is easily my favorite coach that I can remember and I am so stoked to see him and Dame together get a chance to compete for a championship. I’m not smart enough to know how much his presence will assuage Dame’s learning curve but I do think it’ll be impactful and it’ll be so cool to watch

My brain is breaking trying to figure out how to make this about Miami.

Interesting that the example he uses for knowing their games is from watching as a fan. He actually plays against them every year and has a detailed scouting report of all of them.

You’d think that’s what he would be using to familiarize himself with them coming into the season. But idk

We are going to see a huge Dame appreciation and resurgence when he’s dropping 30 ppg on a 1 seed.

He made All-NBA 3rd team last year on this terrible Blazers team (coming from a Blazer fan) and was dropping 60 and 70 point games as the only option.

He is a fucking inferno and will make his mark when it matters in a big situation.

I’m happy for him and will root for him always.
