Heat Player Development Tree

This is obvious but it’s really interesting when you lay it out. The Heat have an ideal group of archetypical players now that they’ve doubled.

The obvious “1 to 1” Comps:

• Jimmy Butler > JJJ

• Caleb Martin > Jamal Cain

• The Dunc Yard Dog > Cole Swider

• PJ Tucker > Haywood Highsmith

• Thomas Bryant > Orlando Robinson

The Variant:

• Kevin Love/KO ~ Nikola Jovic

What I like about our guys here is, with the exception of JJJ (just thinkin realistically), they have potential to be equal or better than their counterparts

(In Jovic’s case i’m saying he can be more versatile than KLove, not calling him potentially better than prime KLove. He’s got a more diverse skillset and may be closer in line to a Franz Wagner type)

Of course, we don’t have anything remotely close to Bam, or Tyler even. But, what’s more interesting to me is how the PG model is panning out right now.

Looking at the recent guys:
• Dragic, Nunn, Javonte Smart, Marcus Garrett, Gabe Vincent, Victor Oladipo, Lowry, Bouyea, Dru Smith and RJ Hampton.

The best version of all of these guys is pretty ambitious. A 6’3-6’5, athletic, long wingspan, POA defender that can create their own shots at the rim, space the floor decently and table set for others 😭. So I really hope RJ becomes playable lmaooo

JJJ reminds me a lot of Gordon Hayward. Similar physical profiles with good but not great “sneaky” athleticism and a smooth swingman game. I think that would be a realistic ceiling for him. I think his floor is being a good starter on a playoff team. He already looks like he’s poised to be a legit contributor early on.
