[Adrian Wojnarowski] Thunder will have to pay the $16.9M guaranteed left on Porter Jr., contract as they waive him. OKC gathered four second-round picks in acquiring and moving Oladipo’s $9.5M expiring deal this offseason. OKC has 15 first-round and 22 second-round picks over the next seven years.

  1. We’ll always appreciate Oladipo’s contribution to this franchise

its time for OKC-HOU annual transaction ritual

  3. WeirdWorld42

OKC are collecting draft picks like Thanos was collecting infinity stones!

  4. BBallHunter

This is so fucking funny cause we also traded for Meyers Leonard lmao.

  5. Perturabo_Iron_Lord

When will we have enough picks to make the infinity draft?

  6. thewrongnotes

15 first-round and 22 second round picks, Jeremy? That’s insane.

  7. Titronnica

It’s going to be really funny when few to none of those picks turn into anything

  8. Gobbledygooker316

Does having this many picks make them worth less? Like other teams know they can’t use all those picks so the Thunder are losing leverage.

  9. Joel Embiid has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for 15 FRPs and 22 SRPs

  10. Oladipo turned down 2 years and $45m from Houston a couple of years back and ended up getting 2 and $18m from Miami (via some rotten injury luck). Could this be his Schroder redemption arc?

  11. woosh_yourecool

This how every annoying dynasty bball owner plays fantasy

  12. lets_talk_basketball

That’s corny that he still gets 17M given the heinous shit he is accused of… At least withhold the pay until the legal proceedings finish.

  13. Honestly I figured that the Pacers would be a KPJ dump team – we could’ve sent Hield back. But, I imagine we value Hield more than a few second rounders.

  14. People act like the Thunder have to use them. They can package them to go higher in the draft. They can trade for future picks. Hell they can actually release half the roster and use them.

  15. RVAIsTheGreatest

Not many teams would be willing to eat $17M but the Thunder while having high expectations this season are still in their growth process and had a roster crunch. It’s smart business. Eventually we’ll surely see them use some of these picks in a trade for established talent.

It’s a fair deal for both squads as Oladipo’s salary is solid for matching in trades, so gonna guess the Rockets keep him, but we’ll see.

This guy is doing things in real life like how I manage my MyEras team in 2k

  17. FadeRedditMakeMoney

Presti almost has as many picks as Dak Prescott has thrown

  18. Notorious_Beebs

Glad we got Will Dawkins from the Thunder. Hopefully he learned from Presti and will get us some draft capital built up

  19. New_Essay_4869

I didnt think we’d get 4 SRPs for that. Thats almost a whole Jae Crowder!

  20. antipistonsandsixers

    Pretty discusting imo

One mans domestic assault is another mans business opportunity I guess.

    Whats the value of a second versus a mid/late first? 5;1? 10;1?

Would the bulls trade the incoming blazers pick (protected 1-14 iirc) for 5 seconds? 10? Something 5-10? Bulls have traded their 2024, 2025, 2026,2027 and 2028 seconds away right?(with nothing incoming).

Heat trade their 2027 FRP for 5-10 seconds? Heat have zero round round picks til like 2031?

  22. Imagine if those picks produced a team with some future HOFs like Durant, Harden or Westbrook all playing at the same time.

  23. paradoxofchoice

Are OKC going to trade all those picks in exchange for a new arena?

  24. BirdPerson107

Lmao 37 picks in the first two rounds in 7 years is unbelievable

  25. 2icecreamsandwiches

Presti about to create a whole expansion team just from those picks.

  26. Everyone memeing but the Thunder are working for a future where they won’t fall into the main pitfall most top teams fall into out of neccesity.

Almost every team aqquiring All-Star talent mortgage their entire future. Think Clippers giving up Shai and like 4 1st and swaps for Paul George, the Wolves 4 1sts and a swap for Gobert, Suns giving up Bridges and Johnson and 4 1sts for Durant.

The Thunder are putting themselves in a position to trade for a generational talent and still have picks leftover to surround Shai and the traded player with supporting players and young talent through the draft, rather that relying on minimum contract vets to flesh out the roster.

The important thing to note is we still had like 25m-ish cap space to use before this trade. OKC using their cap space as a resource to acquire draft picks (effectively _buying_ draft capital) is smart since, similar to draft picks – once the year ends, you can’t use your draft picks.

Collecting draft picks is a way to store value over time. If we don’t want to pick in any particular (or immediate) draft, we can just trade that pick into the future.

Anyone who says “REEE OKC HAS TOO MANY PICKS. THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING” is missing the point. It’s like saying “omg, I have to much money, what ever will I do??!?!?!”. It’s just silly lol.
