Giannis and Lillard finding their feet as Bucks drop preseason road game to Thunder

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard were in the lineup for the second time this preseason, as the Bucks fell to Oklahoma City on the road. Giannis once again put up an efficient line, while Lillard struggled to hit shots, but what were the takeaways from the duos night? Malik Beasley benefitted from some open looks, knocking down six triple in what could be a sign on things to come. Is Andre Jackson Jr. banging down the wall for rotation minutes? What is the ceiling for the young Thunder? Kane wanders through some postgame thoughts on today’s show.

  1. Giannis would have had more assists if open shots had been made, including a missed dunk by Thanasis.

  2. Coach should have challenged the charge called on Giannis near the end of the half. He was moving too fast for the defensive player to get set. Need to reset the perspective of the game officials.

  3. Just saw your tweet Kane, absolutely gutted. Locked in bucks has become part of my daily routine in the last 4 years and you’ve been such a great host. As a fellow melbournian I’d love to be able to meet you one day so we can chat bucks.
Good luck with your career and wish you nothing but the bloody best. #longlivekanepitman

  4. Starting 5:

    Dame
    MarJon
    Khris
    Giannis
    Brook

    Sixth Men:

    Bobby (frontcourt)
    Malik (backcourt)

Andre should get every, or nearly every, minute Giannis is off the court. ~15 min/game Giannis plays in; more when Giannis doesn’t play.

    Bench Depth:

    PG: Cam
    SG: AJ
    Swing: Pat
    F: Jae
    C: Robin

  5. i think we should of gotten a proven coach nick nurse we of been a better fit and knows when to adjustments when the time called for it .

  6. We all also need to be cognizant of the fact that Dame is going through an extremely rough time right now in his personal life, he filed for divorce and his wife is asking for sole custody of their three children. It can be very difficult to put aside these things happening to him, so any major struggles that occur for him, that could be one of the reasons.

  7. Good luck with the future career spot, hope your success with Fox Australia continues from strength to strength, and hopefully next time you are covering the NBA Finals, the Bucks are in it! Looking forward to see who picks up the mantle for LoB!

  8. Nobody cares about pre-season. The players the coach maybe… but if you care that much stop

  9. Dame looks so disinterested out there, it’s preseason yes but you’re on a new team playing with Gianni’s and looks like he could care less.

  10. Well done as always Kane. You'll be missed! On to bigger and better things I'm sure 👍👍

  11. In Giannis’ post game press last night he stated that he was just cleared to run a sprint about 3 weeks ago.
TO FRANKS POINT: giannis also pointed out his extra weight stating he feels “heavy”

I’m just not worried at all. If a rusty giannis is still putting up 18/10 in the preseason, then that’s definitely decent.

Dame will come around. He has had a long offseason and a HUGE change.

We all need to be reasonable and give them a decent stretch of time to mesh.

  12. Pat Cannaughton and Marjon Beauchamp are both inconsistent to be on our starting line-up. I like the idea of having Malik Beasley or Andre Jackson in there.

  13. I'm looking forward to seeing this offense come together and really gel. This is the only time I've been glad that there are 82 games in a season. Gives them time to figure it out. My main concern, there was a point in the game where I looked up and was like, dang, they're already in the bonus? I'm all for aggressive D, but not if it's racking up a bunch of fouls to the point where we're giving the opps easy points. Not to mention, the way they're scrambling back to contest wide open 3's is not a good look for us. Please make it stop 😭.
