[Tom Orsborn] Pop said tonight’s starting lineup – Sochan, Vassell, Johnson, Wemby & Collins – is penciled to start on opening night: “They better play well or we are in trouble. Those are the big guys. They are tall, they are big, they are going to start.”

Don’t like it at all. Would much prefer a traditional PG like Tre Jones in there for some steady ball handling.

I love it. We have a year to experiment and find ways to play around a 7’4″ power forward, so let’s experiment. Point Sochan it is.

Hell yea. Pop basically saying fuck tradition, we doing it our way. Wemby isn’t gonna be Duncan 2.0 where we dump it into the paint and everyone gets out of the way and we don’t need a starting PG cause we have players that can pass. I’m down with it Pop.

We are still in the experimental phase of this. I’m sure Coach Pop will continue to make adjustments until he finds the sweet spot. Trust in PATFO

I look at this way, if you want to win today it’s a terrible idea. If you want to win tomorrow it’s a worthwhile gamble.

The most impressive thing about sochan is he don’t care about how looks, he will shoot free throws one handed if it works. This is the difference between Ben Simmons and Giannis. He has the right mentality day in and day out to get through rough patches and become good.

What’s more valuable to the team year playing traditional and losing or using this time to develop sochan. If he is successful we have defensive lineups that scary. If he fails we can draft/sign/trade for a point guard next year. I really don’t see the downside.

  6. I have no problem with starting our 5 best players. It might look ugly at times, but it’s probably best for everyone’s development.

Not playing without a traditional point guard isn’t really new. Hell, the Bulls second threepeat was with Harper and Jordan listed as the guards but realistically Pippen brought the ball up and initiated the offense. That worked pretty well.

I’m really happy about the starting lineup.
