Terry Stotts Resigns DUE To An Incident At Shootaround

After sitting out from coaching for two seasons, Stotts, 65, joined the Bucks’ coaching staff at the start of Adrian Griffin’s tenure in Milwaukee to help run the offense. Stotts’ offensive expertise was a useful contrast to Griffin’s defensive focus as a coach, but the hire ended up being even more beneficial when the team traded for Lillard, the superstar point guard Stotts coached for nine seasons in Portland. — The Athletic

  1. This isn't a good look for Adrian Griffin. He hasn't even coached an NBA game yet as HC, and already one of his assistant coaches quit on him, and Terry Stotts at that.

  2. Griffin talking to Stotts like he's some G-League player who just got called up. I would have left too if I were him.

  3. The real issue is the organization hired scotts and not adrian griffin. Just my opinion. I think this is the best move for all parties and its good it happened earlier.

  4. This is why you always let the Head Coach pick his own staff, you put someone who's been a head Coach for 10 years under someone whos a first time head Coach, of course I'm not surprised at all.

  5. Terry and Dame had a phone conversation after Dame talked and Terry said "Make it clear this one was all you."

  6. I hope the people involved address things further. The speculation and drama that comes from reports like these is usually pretty ridiculous, and doesn't serve much purpose.

  7. how naive and unprofessional to have such a group of players and do experiments on the bench…

  8. Whatever the case is, its better to finish with it now rather than the playoffs. We choose Adrian which IS a risk. How much more interesting is would be with us having Nick Nurse or Eric or Ty for example. BUT, we have to give Adrian a chance and by January we have to have clear results. Otherwise, another fast change might be better, this time Adrian going. I mean Terry was a head coach for 9 years but didn't exactly won anything…..

  9. I think Stotts disrespected Coach Griffin by wanting to do his own thing. Stotts has always had a soft skin. He was not disrespected by Griffin, but HE disrespected Griffin because as the report stated it was in front everybody when Coach asked him to join the rest of the coaches. Stotts should have laughed it off and join his fellow coaches. Good riddance Terry.

  10. When u coach u need your team! Not someone that feels like they should be the head coach.good move to get rid of him.

  11. Griffin is a dick according to Jimmy Butler and others. Sounds like he tryin to flex nuts as a new coach. That kind of action will undermine the Bucks culture.

Thanks for the update as we all have been wondering what really went down.

  12. Look, if things goes south Griffin is the one that takes the L. Terry apears soft and Griffin is a more aggressive type coach plus there is a reason terry is not a headcoach.

  13. If Terry doesn't come out with something publicly, he obviously left this way to hurt the perception of Griffin. This is actually an insanely poor look for Terry and I'm guessing this was his last shot at a coaching job. No other orgs are going to want to hire a guy who flakes out when adversity happens. Nobody wants to hire a guy who will put his ego over the team.
