    I'm not even really a Haslem fan, but the reason he got paid as a guidance counselor was because he chose winning over getting paid. He took a pay cut for the Bosh/LeBron signing, and they rewarded his sacrifice

    I'm cheering for Fred to swindle more money, as long as its not our cap space. He is in Houston as the coach's voice, not for an all-star player. Calling it now, he was hired to speak on behalf of Ime while still being relevant on-court as the floor general (unlike Haslem), sheltering Ime from the player fallout, then they can let Fred go after two years and Ime will still be good with the young guys. Fred is gonna be the bad cop to Ime's good cop. Fred is gonna throw all the young guys under the bus if they don't perform the way he wants like he did here to light a fire under their ass and say all the things a coddling parent won't say. Houston paid 40M for a scapegoat, imo, its gonna worth it for them, they're playing politics and politics ain't cheap. Fred will do ANYTHING for more money, he'll be the bad guy so Ime can be the good guy. Only way Fred will get a 2nd year is not his stats, but how well he can get the young guys up to quality with Ime telling Fred what needs to be done, while Ime sits back and be a "players coach".

    I know I am an outlier here but I still believe Fred was also a victim of the nurse system. He was a system player under Casey and he is a winner.

    During FVV's tenure, the Shockers won three MVC titles and nine NCAA tourney games. VanVleet twice won MVC Player of the Year (2014, 2016)

    Was a good piece off the bench to help win a chip.
    I know people look at numbers a lot but I still believe fred just wants to win and will do what it takes to win. I think he will do fine under Ume and in his system.
    As far as Scottie- nurse had him as an sg on the perimeter and Scottie himself noted his conditioning wasn’t good enough to run all game. Scottie looks great this year because he is well conditioned and Darko has him back in the paint where his strengths are.

    Lol Houston paying all that money for a slightly above mediocre guard. No team in their right mind would pay that much money except Houston cuz they desperate. It looked like a good signing cuz anything is an upgrade from that current roster. Heck, they can sign tickle me Elmo and that shit would still make sense. That's how doo doo that roster was.

    I didn't realize until last season, how much better our offense was with Lowry running the show compared to Fred. Fred was really more of a shooting guard and that's why I think the Rockets development will be delayed until they get rid of him or relegate him to the bench which is not happening this first season. Our offense is running so much better under Dennis and Darko.

    Do I like… miss, FVV walking up and down the court for 40 minutes? Will Rocket fans like it? I really don't think he fits the Rockets. I never thought he would. And I wanted FVV to take only 12 FGA last season, but he was after the money. Some Raps fans didn't see it… but I think they see it now, the Raptors are FAR better now (and yes NN.) The real question now: what team would the talent-set of FVV fit? NONE! Never doubt me lol. Never.
    And Chev, I play better on the back nine. FVV is on the second round of the day.

    If he ever used that IQ against his opponents instead of his own teammates and organization he'd be worth 43 mil. He's a maestro.

    I think some need to stop saying Raptors lost FVV for nothing when they freed up 43 milly to build a proper team. FVV and his skill set appears very replaceable with a much cheaper price. I hope this is OG's season. He looks ready for prime time EST.

    Our pace of play is such a joy to watch. And defense is become cohesive again. We will be in ever game! Dont care who we playing. Guys are all on the same page and team is well prepared.
