Great move by the spurs, Zach Collins right now is a quality starter, but he's not even at his peak. He still has room to grow and improve he's only 25 years old and with Wemby having such gravity to him, Zach is gonna eat off open 3's and easier shots around the basket, something Zach excells at in both regards. Also the contract is pretty team friendly for what he brings to the table.
I think he has really improved (Zach), but really wish we could have found a way to keep Poeltl…. I don't ever see Wemby playing true Center.. with time Spurs all again become a problem for everyone they face
Collins extension contract is a savvy move – he'd command 16 to 20 million on the open market next year given how he's been playing. I'll be interested to know how much of the contract is guaranteed and whether there's a team option on the 2nd year of the contract.
This deal is a bargain. Zach Collins is a lottery pick. He’s just been dealing with injuries pretty much since he entered the league, but this year, for the first time, he’s healthy, he’s got the minutes, he’s got the reps under his belt, I think the best of Zak is still yet to come soon. Bargain!
I like Zac as our center, he's an enforcer type player. I'd like the idea of the Spurs getting Jonas Valančiūnas. Those two would be a great one two punch for protection. Big problem is who would be the starter. Use Jonas for those bigger centers to bang with. Plus, would extend the height advantage. Tough news about Steven Adams being out for the season. I would have loved for him to be on the Spurs instead of Gasol.
Thing is it's fine. It doesn't break the bank and there aren't great FA this upcoming year anyway. Wemby is going to make everyone better. So Collins bring our 5 is fine for now.
Loved it when we signed him , he’s not gonna be a star obviously, but I think he can be a star in his role on the spurs , good passer , spaces the floor , decent rebounder
