Adams out, what are the Grizz going to do next? Options ….

This tweet is an important one: [https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1716133565316940139](https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1716133565316940139)

The Grizzlies have 15 players on guaranteed contracts.

>Here are their options:
>
>1. They can file a Disabled Player Exception request to the NBA for Adams. The DPE is valued at $6.3M (50% of the Adams salary) if granted. Memphis would need to have an open roster spot.
>
>2. Starting on 11/2 Memphis can move Morant to the suspended list and sign a replacement player.
>
>3. Memphis also has the $12.4M non-tax midlevel, $7.5M trade and $4.5M biannual exception.
>
>4. The Grizzlies are $17.1M below the luxury tax.

Wonder who we can trade with to get someone or is there anyone on the FA market?

Anyways, lets see how this plays out.

I love X, but we have to sign a permanent replacement at this point.

  2. I think people need to understand, there is no combination of his height, rebounding, screen setting, and PASSING available. This season is honestly going to be very tough, and a lot is going to hinge on expedited growth of Jaren and Santi in those areas

I have several “unpopular opinion player” options that we have either 2 way or permanent that I think we could have/should have let go. Our back ups just aren’t as strong as we need. Our optimal starting 5 this year now has 1 on suspension and 1 now out indefinitely. Tripp with those fouls and lack of rebounding can’t do it. I miss BC. Tillman is bench at best. It was easy to see in that Bucks game that we needed size and rebounding – we just stayed at the arc on offense and gave up the rebounds on both ends. We were bodied trying to get to the paint.
I was pleased to see Zs progress since we desperately needed an impactful forward. Marcus was a great addition and thought we might just white knuckle until Ja got back but now I see a play in situation as optimistic.

Also a Titans fan so needless to say I’m shooketh for my sports this year :/. All summer waiting for this shit show.

Thinking too locally. We need to pull someone from overseas who is capable of filling the role of a great value stevo

Go with option 1, gotta trade for a center because the FA market for centers and big men is depleted at this point, if you’re trying to find a starter level player. And pray Clarke can come back sometime after all star break and continue what he has been.

Dwight Howard returns to the NBA to play for Memphis 👀

How about that Timme guy as a FA, or is he a scrub in the pros?

What would Robert Williams realistically take? Brandon Clarke, Laravia and one or two FRP?

Does the NBA have anything like IR? Or do the BC and Adams injuries mean we have to play with a 13 man roster for the whole fucking season?

  10. They’ll shop around but unless a great fit at great price is available, I think they see how these 25-40 games go, and see if the season is worth saving, and what big gaps we still have. Rebounding obviously, but maybe they come up with new styles of play that fit who we’ll have ROS that account for the missing screening from Adams. Probably want to see how Ja handles returning to the team too. Personally I think they go ~15-10 still, and we see a trade later in the season

swift way to get downvotes would be to suggest we just punt on this year AND admit that Ja isn’t growing up, trade him for an absolute blockbuster set of prospects and win a title in 2028

Might as well use the MLE and try for Biyombo or something. Tillman will start but having like a Biyombo coming in off the bench will be handy and better than nothing.

Not getting signing drafting or trading for any true centers in the last two years has been a massive oversight from this front office. X is great but he’s undersized BC is great when healthy but not a real center Jaren and Santi are 4s who have center size but struggle at center. No depth behind stevo killed us last year and it’s gonna kill us again.
