Nasty loss to start the season but that 3rd quarter was fun though. More effort and we would’ve have won.

    We have POINTGOD and POINTGOAT.

  2. Sure would have been nice to not have gone down 15 fucking points in the first half. Sometimes I hate this game.

  3. pattypatsonyourback

“Now you see, when the ball hits that circle metal thingy and bounces back, you need to jump, stretch those goddamn arms and snatch the fucking ball like it’s the last slice of your favorite pizza.”
    – Steve Kerr, probably.

  4. SadSatisfaction30

Welp all things considered, the starters going 8-30 from three, Curry in foul trouble, Dray not playing, and all those missed layups it’s a miracle this game was this close lol

  5. combatron2k21

TIL, grabbing someone’s jersey to prevent movement is immaterial contact. What a freaking joke.

  6. Currymvp2

Liked what I saw from Chris Paul besides his jumper. Unlike Poole, he can impact the game positively if his jumpshot is off

  7. just my personal opinion but i felt loon was a little rusty tonight, many questionable defensive reads leaving nurk open for the roll.

but terrible first half from us overall, defense and effort was off. though we picked it up, starting from behind isn’t a good strategy

    **Observations and Overreactions 1/82**

    **Observations**

    * Moody looks amazing on ball and in the passing lanes using his big wingspan. Great on offense as well, not hesitant to shoot

    * Saric looks like a solid fit, passing, positioning, IQ. But he lacks finishing ability and I’m not sure he is the best PnR partner with Paul (more on CP later)

    * Kuminga looking to be aggressive, and I love how the growth of his role is being emphasized. I hope they use him more as the screener especially with Curry and if he learns how to make some basic passes in the short roll that would be so beneficial to the whole team.

    * Second half effort on defensive glass was really poor (Okogie is also really good), they tightened up in the second half.

    * Warriors only 11 turnovers today. Direct impact of having CP3 on the team. It might be a little higher with Draymond though.

    * You can see the lack of depth with the Suns. Injuries to one of their Big 3 or Nurkic would seriously hurt them. I wonder how deep they can go in the playoffs. Booker and KD definitely some killers.

    * Klay is streaky but we need him to keep shooting. Live or die by his 3.

    **Overreactions**

I just want to emphasize that Draymond was not on the court. He is very important in this offense, so things may look very different when he’s playing.

    * Some concerns with CP3 in the pick and roll. Defenders are going under and he is not willing to shoot the 3, not as reliable in the mid range, and can’t frequently take his man to the rim. He also doesn’t have a strong pick and roll partner (Griffin, Jordan in LA, Capela Rockets, Ayton was soft but good finisher on the Suns) A CP3 Dray pick and roll will never be a consistent play as CP3 doesn’t command a double, allowing for Draymond to play in the short roll. They are smart players and Kerr is a good XO coach so I’m sure they can figure out ways to improve this.

    * Last year Poole took 15.6 shots. Where are his shots going to be distributed? CP3 was at 11.5 last year and 15 tonight but do the Warriors want him to shoot that much? Will anyone step up to help Curry and Klay with the offensive workload.

    * Kuminga needs to a lot of reps and the leash to make a lot of mistakes if the Warriors ever want him to have a bigger role on the team. The Warriors are not dominant anymore and will have lots of close games so I wonder how often Kuminga can actually get these reps and especially in close game settings.

    * uhhh Saric’s finishing is ass lol.

  9. CummingInTheNile

Those final 3-4 mins were a perfect example of why Draymonds invaluable to the team

EDIT: Also our starters shot 25-71, we had no business being in that game

  10. AvocadoSuspicious462

The warriors deserved this loss. Won the turnover battle, had 11 more free throws and 6 more FG attempts, and held the suns’ best player to 7-22. They just shot bricks out there and lacked the motivation to get boards. Kerr needs to dynamically adjust his rotations, especially when the starters are not getting it done.

  11. granttheginger

That crowd was somehow worse than the game, which was insanely ugly

  12. Arooooooooooooooo

Those COJO minutes were absolutely trash. -12 in 3 mins.

  13. ColdCostcoPizza

    Good:
    – Some bad turnovers but not as bad as I remember from previous years
    – Defense actually looked okay, especially the effort from the bench crew
    – Much deeper team this year – hopefully means more rest for all the vets

    Bad:
    – offensive struggled across the board. Lots of open looks that we just didn’t hit – but they will come. Was impressed with the aggressiveness from saric, kuminga, cp3 and moody so would love to see more of that

  14. The team does look a LOT better than last year. Not too worried yet. Kuminga looked rough in the second half but he’ll get better as the season goes on

  15. barstoollanguage

That was such a painful watch and hopefully not a hint of how the season will go, hopefully we look better with dray.

  16. Dishavingfun

Wiggins needs to give more than 1 rebound

Team’s too small so has to be gang rebound.

  17. lohohohoho

We only lose by 4 when we’re missing klay, wiggs and dray, not bad at all

  18. KevJamesS

Imagine boxing out Okogie. We need size bad.

  19. LamatoRodriguez

Moody should have been in the game down the stretch. CP needs to stop shooting 3s.

  20. zprymate

Okogie beat the dubs….. there won’t be a fast start I guess.

  21. dating_derp

    Lost by 4 with

    * Missing Draymond
    * Shooting like shit
    * Playing against a contender

That means we’re close to being great. And our bench was amazing. Really excited for this year.

  22. BUUAHAHAHA

    Our vets:

    Wiggins 4/12

    Cp3 4/15

    Klay 6/18

    Saric 3/11

Moody was 4/6 and Kuminga was 4/8.. Kerr played Moody 18 minutes while Klay played the most out of anyone at 36 minutes. Kerr needs to get a grip and shorten his leash for Klay.

  23. Boostaru

Unfortunately for Kuminga, the only thing people will take from his performance tonight is missing 2 clutch FTs, but that’s the give and take with being in the closing lineup.

The more impressive thing was the team shooting 10 of 43 from deep, yet the game was still completely winnable during the last stretch.

  24. Happy_Nom_Nom

Sucks to lose but on the brightside we played terribly and we only lost by 4. The next game will be better

  25. BeetLover1111

All of a sudden everyone here are coaches… this game wasn’t bad, the guys didn’t shoot well but played decent defense regardless of Draymond being out. If Draymond was playing, I’m convinced we’d won.

  26. famoustran

Would have been nice to get the win before 7 of our next 9 being on the road sheesh

  27. augerik

Not too worried about a four point loss without Draymond.

  28. the__king3

Can we play TJD a little next game???? Looney cannot finish a layup to save his life and we need someone else with size out there

  29. No-Zookeepergame4841

I’m not worried about this loss. Dray coming back will help us and we didn’t have a whole lot of turnovers. It’s game 1 of 82. Would a big help? Yes and I think the front office will eventually sign one. I think we’ll be fine.

  30. Sea-Turnip6078

We shot 35% from the field and Wiggins was -22. Add in the constant o rebounds Phoenix had on tip-outs and we’re lucky this wasn’t a 20 point loss tbh.

  31. MarkEast4525

Curry only had 1 assist. He should have the ball in his hands more, and CP3 is taking that away for bad pick and rolls with Saric who can’t finish

  32. JKbHyperizin

I thought Steph looked kind of tired walking in. No surprise the 3P was ase. That game had a ton of missed bunnies and guys just not playing great. And you know why we almost won? Chris Paul. And when Draymond gets back no more of this shit

  33. mattjchin

Cory Joseph was a -12 but Wiggins was -22. Yikes

  34. Snuffaluphagus_1

I’m positive overall but I do want to know wtf is up with Wiggs, that was horrendous not just in performance but more importantly, effort. That level of effort is simply not good enough

  35. Zealousideal_Net_752

We would’ve won if we didn’t miss 10 fkn layups. It’s one game we good guys don’t be doomers just yet.

  36. Chopped_In_Half

Moody looked good. Like *really* good. Gonna flush the rest of that game out of my brain
