Following predictions for the Brooklyn Nets as a team, the Locked on Nets guys now turn to the player level by looking at the stats for Ben Simmons, Mikal Bridges, and others on the team.
Could Ben Simmons return to his career numbers? Will he get enough shots up in this offense and how will the rebounding and assist numbers shake out. What about Mikal Bridges? Can he keep up the same usage and efficiency we saw after he came over from Phoenix?
There’s a ton to discuss with this team going into the season opener.

Ben Simmons will be traded by the deadline.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for Brooklyn and its new core. Ben Simmons and Mikal Bridges are co captains in many ways and their teammates believe in them and their abilities to take this new team to bigger heights…
Overall this team will work to create a strong defensive identity coupled with a fast pace offense and it will be exciting to see this new story unfold….
Looking at how we go about this Ben Simmons will be our floor general and creating great scoring opportunities for his teammates with his assists. Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson Spencer Dinwiddie Cam Thomas Royce o Neale Lonnie Walker lV and Dorian Finney Smith are all going to benefit from the three point line with Simmons assist passes.
When Simmons isn't in the rotation Mikal Bridges can take over the game offensively alongside Cam Thomas while Spencer Dinwiddie makes plays for his teammates.
As the season comes along Brooklyn will figure out their rhythm and cohesion. More importantly seeing this team function as a group as opposed to individuals will be even more exciting….
JV has to tell Simmons for 20+ points per game. He could do it but needs to realise the team needs it to win too.
His assists could be high too. 9-10 per game. Depends on our shooters hitting the given looks.
14/8/8 for season will be a good result
In an interview, recently, with Brad Blanks, Ben Simmons said he try to lead by example. He went on to say, "I've had the opportunity to go into this team and do that." " I've been blessed with the opportunity and I think I've been a great leader so far." I wonder whether he's referring being a "great" leader since his arrival in Brooklyn. LoL I'm sure he's never been accused of self deprecation. Fortunately, he's the last of the Nets lighting rods, the elephant in the room that'll probably garner the lion's share of attention because so much of the team's progress depend on his performance.
The Nets first 10 games should give us a small sample of what's to come. For the most part, the Nets are a team that's going through a rebuild. With new coaches, new players, new schemes, concepts, and details, it's going to take patience/time to see what emerge down the road..
If the Nets performance didn't live up to the hype when KD/Kyrie/Harden were on the roster, Nets fans from the"want immediate results" crowd is in for a rude awakening without any all stars.
Lets gooooo Nets !
Ben needs to get more aggressive same old story attack the rim . I’ve seen nothing special yet
The Cavs game will be an interesting test for the Nets as the 2 teams are relatively close in talent and may be fighting each other for position in the standings through season
What I’d love from Ben Simmons is 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. However Ben Simmons himself came out a couple of days ago and said he’s gonna be better that is all star south so she’s already set the bar and expectation that he’s going to perform better than 17 points and 7 rebounds and 7 assists. I’m not sure why he does that to himself. However, right now he’s performing more like Draymond Green without Steph Curry than an actual All-Star level Ben Simmons.
Cam Johnson has to consistently give the nets, 17 to 18 points a game to warrant the contract that he was given. Bridges needs to be a 25 point a game scorer for the nets for them to really make much noise.
And lastly Claxton, if he’s serious about getting that DPOY then he’s got to be a double digit rebound guy, and oddly enough points do come into the equation as well, so double doubles matter to.
I think ben is going to have a great year, but carrer year was ehen he was an all nba all star and 1st team all defense thats going to be a bit difficult this year, maybe next year
Let’s talk about assists. I think for fans who have actually played more than just a rec game or two they will appreciate this.
Here are some deeper level basketball tidbits. Not all assists are the same and not every assist is a good assist. Having a lot assists doesn’t necessarily make you an unselfish player or represent high basketball iq. What do I mean by this?
Let’s give some examples: Stephon Marbury one of my favorite players growing up averaged close to 8 assists a game but nobody would argue that he was unselfish or not a score first guy. High basketball IQ is about making the right play at the right time. You can be selfish for trying to score too much but you can also be selfish for trying to assist hunt too. Same goes for rebounding which Westbrook got killed for during his triple double padding.
Now to Ben Simmons. If he gets into the lane against a smaller player and has a play or scoring opportunity at the rim but passes up that opportunity in-order to collect an assist to a player elsewhere regardless of whether that player misses or makes the shot that is NOT a high basketball iq play. Any coach worth his salt would say why in the hell would you pass up a play at the rim against a 6”5 guard and you are 6”11 250 inorder to pass it to a teammate for a worse shot? And yes a three point shot is still a worse shot than a layup or dunk at the rim. What would Phil jackson say to Shaq if they threw down to him in the post for a dunk but he passed instead to fisher in the corner? Nobody would say nice play Shaq. They would say what hell are you doing Shaq dunk the ball.
So again not all assists are smart assists.
I don’t expect much from Ben offensively. Simply because the Nets refuse to get a stretch big to pair with him
I will be shocked if we make the playoffs
The Locked On Nets team is excelling in creating a highly positive narrative around Ben Simmons. It's only a matter of time before a GM takes notice, and that's commendable. To achieve this, Ben should aim to meet or exceed his career averages of 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists. Given the number of possessions in today's NBA, there's no reason he shouldn't score a minimum of 14 points per game. You've portrayed Ben Simmons as the vital link and catalyst for the Brooklyn Nets' success and the achievements of his teammates. To truly fulfill the Brooklyn Nets' needs, he should consistently perform at or above his career averages. Well done! I trust the process. 😉
My prediction is that the Nets will start with a 6-4 record in their first 10 games and finish the season with 43 wins. However, the key factor here is the coaching. Jacque Vaughn must enhance his situational coaching. If he makes improvements in this aspect, we're poised for an exceptional season. I'll offer praise when he succeeds and criticize when he falls short.
I cant help to wonder what Ime Udoka could do w/ this line up of Defensive Stars.
I wouldn't take these guys seriously , they were clowing Ben 6 months ago , saying that they should trade him. Now they singing a different tune. Be consistent.
Just need to see them in regular season action
