Cade Cunningham Looks Like A Star In Detroit Pistons Season Opening Loss To Miami

The Detroit Pistons lost their first game against the Miami Heat by one point, but their franchise player Cade Cunningham looked like an absolute STAR; scoring 30 points and racking up nine assists in the season opener. How exciting was it to see the former first-overall show-up and show out in the first game of the year?

  1. Been awhile since i didn't wanna die during a Pistons game feels good.

  2. Well, Bagley only had 3 F.G. attempts in this game, which is tough as I am a fan of his. If a guy takes 25 or more F.G. attempts he should score 30 points at least I think, so good for Cunningham doing that.

  3. we were up 3 after the first quarter tho but i feel you hell uva game bro we on our way

  4. Tough loss but I’m really proud of how hard they fought against a good team on the road. I have a few thoughts. Firstly, Cade Cunningham has no doubt arrived on the scene. He has completely revamped his 3 point shooting mechanics and it showed. Much more arc on his shots, not to mention all the other buckets he got along with the 9 assists. Anyone who doubted him before is gonna be looking pretty damn stupid. He’s already a star, the question is will he become a superstar? Much of that is predicated on whether or not this team can find a legit number 2 scoring option to play alongside him. And I know I’ve been bashing him like crazy but Isaiah Stewart was terrific tonight. 14 and 14 and shot over 50%, made 2/3 3s, and did a phenominal job on the boards getting the Pistons second shot attempts with his hustle. He was very under control and didn’t force anything. Played an unselfish and efficient ball game. I just hope he can keep it up. Duren was also a man among boys. 17, 14, 4 assists and 4 blocks on 8/11 FG. Dude was an absolute monster. And I know Ausar’s offensive game was lacking, but good lord this guy looks like a LEGIT defensive player of the year candidate already. 5 blocks is literally unheard of for 6”6 guard/wing, let alone in his NBA debut. But his blocks didn’t even tell half the story. He was just all over the place defensively and was wreaking havoc out there disrupting any and every shot within his vicinity. Once his offense develops a bit he’s gonna be a legit two-way star with his athleticism. I also liked Sasser and feel he should get more minutes. He made some gutsy shots and was also very under control in his debut. 8 points on 3/4 shooting in just 10 min of play. Let’s also give some credit to Bagley. He played very solid in spot minutes. Now for some of my concerns. Let’s start with Killian Hayes. When Monte Morris returns this guy needs to be cut. I’m sorry but he still can’t shoot. It’s embarrassing and I’m tired or it. Secondly, I know it’s only one game but should the Pistons consider moving off of Ivey? It seems Monty sees something in that Cade and Jaden may not be able to coexist. I definitely like Cade in score first mode and then looking to set up his teammates when he gets doubled. In order for this to work he needs either a pure point guard playing next to him or a guy who can consistently score without the ball in his hands, and neither really applies to Ivey. He’s a combo guard who likes to look for his shot first, so I could see why playing them together may not work in the long term. I could be wrong but just my two cents. Anyway, on to Charlotte, boys.

  5. 🙏🏼Appreciate your work Ku!

I listen to you every time you post on YouTube.

I’m definitely excited to see how the Pistons season is going to go after seeing Ausar play really well on defense, and the Pistons as a whole, come together, and believe in each other against the Eastern conference champions!

It’s going to be a great year!

If the team can stay reasonably healthy, I’m predicting at least 40 wins.

We only turned the ball over one time in the second half.

Once Ausar figures out the pace of the NBA game, he’s going to be a perennial all star!

Keep up the great work, sir!

  6. Love your positivity. Got to keep it in perspective and just enjoy that we were in this game against a team like this. Cade looks awesome!

  7. All some of us Pistons fans want is Cade to have a healthy season.

That's all we have been asking.

Nobody is in here rooting against the guy.

Especially since certain players on the team have been comfortable sitting in street clothes collecting a check, instead of playing on the court these past few seasons.

  8. Killian is never going be a consistent decent 3 shooter. Lefty brick shot. Weaver is clueless

  9. We have 4 players that are a guaranteed keep for the future, and that is everything we could have hoped for. Cade, Stew, Duren and Ausar. We are gonna be good.

  10. Cade had joe Harris wide open in the corner on that last play that’s the next level for him knowing when to take the shot or pass the ball in that situation

  11. I don't tune in to see Cade. I tune in to see the Pistons. I like Cade, to me Cade is Grant Hill 2.0 minus the athletic jumping and plus a better jump-shot. Detroit has the right coach. Now we need to get Cade 1 more star. I thought Ivey but Ivey looks bad right now!

  12. Negatives: Ivey. Kid looks bad. Ivey has to find his place on this team. Ivey looks like a lost puppy right now!

  13. Biggest take away from this game is that Monty is one hundred percent justified in benching Ivey. Out of control jacker on offense. Complete liability on defense.
