Bill Simmons Is IMPRESSED with Dallas Mavericks Rookie Dereck Lively II
The rookie who shined the most in the encounter between the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs was not Victor Wembanyama. Rather, it’s the Mavs’ first-year big man Dereck Lively II, who played a huge role in Dallas’ season-opening win.
He did not start for the Mavs, but he made a tremendous impact once he got the chance to see action on the floor. He finished his night with 16 points on an efficient 7-for-8 shooting also grabbing 10 boards in 31 minutes of action.
Not Only has Luka Doncic been impressed by the play of the rookie, But the Ringer founder and Podfather Bill Simmons was super impressed with Lively and even admitted that we didn’t like the Pick when the Mavs selected him.

You mean "the #1 Luka and Dallas Mavericks hater cause he is a die-hard celtics fan" Bill Simons? That dude hate Dallas and mostly Luka in every way and of course we all know he was also the biggest Kyrie hater of all time
Lively is the liveliest rookie in whole game 1 for sure.
He plays the rim a lot like Rudy Gobert. He will be a force ones he gets it figured out. His post defense still needs a lot of work.
Luka seems to be pretty happy about playing with an interior player with skills weren't there before.
Lively is the rookie steal of the year !!! God is shining down as the Mavs are now contenders. This 18yo kid is ready to get in there and mix it up with the best, of course he has a lot to learn and some great teachers.
The mavs still have a ton of issues. They gave up 43 points in the 1st quarter to a Spurs team that isn't supposed to do much this year. Barely beating a bad team is nothing to get excited about, but I did love how Lively looked and hope he is the starter moving forward. The less I see of Dwight Powell the better. Hopefully Lively can work on his outside game kid could be one of the best C's in the NBA if he continues to grow.
He is ahead of the 2 leading big men ROY candidates in the adding weight category …. so he has that going for him.
Lively play better in NBA then in college never have duble duble and never have 16p
