Wow, Luka’s lateral quickness and discipline has improved. There were a couple of times in the fourth where the Nets hunted Luka in an iso matchup and they had to pass out cause they couldn’t create anything.

Luka is a decent defender against 6’7 – 6’10” wings because of his wingspan and weight. Heck, on some occasions, he can cover some centers, too.

It’s the speedy Damian Lillard-type of players that gives him trouble. That’s why Luka, Grant, and Josh should ideally cover the wing/PF positions well.

Luka been locked in on D it seems like so far

  4. He’s always shown flashes of good defence but it’s never been consistent, not sure if it ever will be due to his offensive load and conditioning

Not to overreact, but there’s no way Luka isn’t DPOY

2 Things Are Great about this besides the obvious “Luka Playing Defense”

    1. It’s the 4th quarter and he’s still showing amazing effort and hustle.

    2. The Nets *hunted* this out through switches. They kept trying to attack Luka on the defensive end and it wasn’t working.

    Love to see it.

Man we got luka doing this and backpacking the team overall, we are going to need some folks like josh and kyrie to join the party eventually

There was a play in the 4th, when Luka was guarding Mikal and Grant Williams came to help, which led to and open three for O’Neale in last second (he made it). Luka was angry and was telling Grant something.

Since that moment, they didn’t help anymore and Luka stopped Mikal on multiple possesions.
