[Justin Russo] Jazz finished the game with 33 second chance points off of 17 offensive rebounds. The last time the Clippers gave up at least 33 second chance points in a game was Feb. 24, 2014, when they also gave up 33 to the New Orleans Pelicans.

That is absolutely brutal. We deserved that L.

Meanwhile, Zu only played 19 minutes and Plumlee 12.

Plumlee was bad defensively tonight, but going small against a rotation of Keller, Olynk, Mark, and Collins is asking for tough rebounding night.

If this team could uld just keep the turnovers in the single digits it would make their lives so much easier.

  4. Clippers biggest need is a mobile big who can shoot and rebound. Their 5s can rebound but they’re not the most mobile, and can be schemed out of the game against certain matchups like they were tonight. Their 4s are mobile and can shoot but can’t rebound. They need a mobile big who can shoot and rebound or they’re not going anywhere regardless of health.

And Ty Lue’s response to this will be to play Mook on Sunday lmao

if we trade for harden, better hope there’s a 4 and or 5 included coz to make the money work 1 or 2 of ours has to go and we’ll continue to struggle against bigger teams.

Can’t rebound and we’re playing Wemby on Sunday. Gonna get cooked.

If you’re to win with small ball, you need your best defenders to show up every game. Draymond was that guy for Golden State (not to undervalue the contributions of Klay and Iggy as defenders), and they wouldn’t have been so successful if they’d just tried to win on offense alone.

At this later stage of their respective careers, no one can realistically expect Kawhi and PG to be going at 100% effort for every game + the playoffs. So unless we have a guy like Mann available to be a defensive pest, the small ball lineup will not be reliably good against non lottery teams
