The Brooklyn Nets are beginning a new era in which the present and future is about youth and potential now that Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden are no longer part of the team. Due to the change in personnel, most in the NBA space believe that the Nets will be a fringe playoff team at best.
To that point, Bill Simmons recently published an episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” in which he, along with Ryen Russillo and Joe House, previewed the Atlantic Division in terms of whether each team will go over or under their projected win total for the 2023-24 season.
When it was time to discuss the Nets, Simmons had some interesting things to say about Brooklyn. For context, in the video posted below, the over/under that the trio is reacting to for the Nets is 37.5 wins, which seems to be consistent with where most betting markets have the Nets in terms of expectations.
Among other things, Simmons had this to say about the Nets:
“I personally think they blew it not going for Dame (Damian) Lillard. So, here’s where it gets tough because I don’t like this team and they are making Ben Simmons the point forward and Spencer Dinwiddie has had some thoughts about this already. He’s positive about it but, he had the car keys last year and now, Ben’s going to have the car keys. So, he’s (Dinwiddie) going to have to learn to adjust off the ball.”

For one… I think Ben feels accepted and fully welcomes his role as a key player for us.
Rashid… get this: I really think he's been HOLDING BACK just a tad bit in preseason. But he's shown that he is healthy AND MOTIVATED to disprove the media wide slander.

We got a decent team , they can make some noise . I like everyone sleeping on them that's good lol

We are completely trash if Ben “mentally soft” Simmons is our main guy…….We won’t even make the play in……..(for all the bets I have offered not one has been taken up by this guy)
