Again not worried about Trae the shots will fall

  2. everybody played well. no notes. there is still a lid on the rim for Trae but he played through it the right way.

  3. Julio_Freeman

As bad as the first 2 games were that 1 was beautiful. Total team beatdown. Those are the types of games you hope to see more of under Quin.

  4. Cheese_Pie2008

Trae’s FG% was 21% against the Hornets, then 25% against the Knicks, to 35.7% today. Also his 3pt shooting was horrible against the Hornets but it’s been pretty good the last two games.

  5. Standard-Big1474

Jalen Johnson unironically looked like Ben Simmons with a 3 point shot

  6. hollow-ataraxia

    Good win, I’m happy

Adam Silver has to make some calls about Thanasis because that guy doesn’t belong on an NBA court

  7. Alive-Ad-4164

Thanks you so much for beating the bitch ass bucks

  8. AlconTheFalcon

Great game. Did a pretty good job stopping the Bucks’ momentum on their comeback attempts.

  9. GatsbyKanye

Beating the Bucks after 2 bad loses is so vintage hawks it makes me sick. Also could Jalen be the 2nd best player on the team right now?

  10. Aardvark-0001

Quin: our 2 guards are unbelievably coach-able … will that shut down the coach killer narrative you think?

  11. BryantBuckets

Losing to the Hornets and Knicks only to beat the Bucks in Milwaukee is the most Hawks thing ever I am not the slightest bit surprised

  12. Responsible_Honeydew

Why did they keep doubling/fouling Trae when he was the least efficient player in the game? 😂

  13. MiserableSoft2344

    Trae FG% after 3 games:

    21% @ Charlotte

    25% vs New York

    36% @ Milwaukee

    In Quin we trust.

  14. WzrdKelly10

Great 1st team win! Feel like everybody had a moment of dominance in the game between shotmaking, passing, rebounding, and defense.

  15. No-Forever-6104

If anyone has watched kurokos basketball they’ll get my reference but JJ and Trae gonna be pulling up to every game like kuroko and kagami at the winter cup tournament

  16. Frostythesnowmeme

Tried telling people Hornets and Knicks have our number but we’d get it back against the bucks. Hopefully we can treat tomorrow as the real start of the season and get ourselves some nice momentum.

  17. Renverseur

Good win. We owned the Bucks tonight but maaaan that team is gonna be spooky once Middleton is back

  18. IllumiXXZoldyck

I like how even the scoring was tonight! Indicative of some great movement/rotations

  19. Dejounte was great tonight. I feel like his two best games as a Hawk came against Dame.

  20. badlilbadlandabad

It’s hard to even believe that was the same team that went out there the first two games. Still gives me shades of last year where we’re awesome some nights and ice cold other nights. More minutes for Jalen and fewer minutes for Hunter will be good for us. On to tomorrow night!

  21. Jalen Johnson Highlights: Jalen started the game with a quick 5 points with a putback off a Clint Capela easy bunny miss. He then had a catch-and-shoot three from a Trae Young pick-and-pop. With around 30 seconds left, he had an empathetic block on the fastbreak on Beauchamp. This got a foul call and a subsequent challenge from the Hawks. Thankfully the call was overturned. With around 9 minutes in the second quarter, he made a long corner two. With around 7 minutes left in the half, he got the ball in transition and got a Euro step into a dunk. With under 6 minutes left, he hit his second three. This one was wide open. Giannis played off him. With 3 minutes in the half, he had a layup high off the glass against Giannis.

Summary: Jalen Johnson got his first start tonight and ended the game with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block on 6/10 fg and ⅔ from three. Jalen Johnson hits once again. He was fairly aggressive on the offensive end where he was successful getting to the inside. Tonight he was successful with his catch-and-shoot opportunities. Although he only got one assist, I thought his passing was solid with multiple solid passes thrown. His passes allow the other player to make a second pass. The rebounding was solid once again. Defensively he was solid and was able to be successful in creating havoc. He got in foul trouble tonight with 4 but he was guarding Giannis at times so this is expected. Grade A-

Deandre Hunter highlights: Dre started his night off with a pull-up three-make. Hunter had a rebound with two defenders around him. He was able to pass it to Bogi for a three-point make. The next possession he got his second foul and had to be sat with 4 minutes in the first quarter. To start the third quarter, Dre had a bad pass off the drive straight into Dame’s hands. A few possessions later he had a running dunk and then a three-pointer. The next possession he made a pull-up midrange shot causing a Buck’s timeout. With around 5 minutes in the third, he used the screen and got to the rim for a layup. With around 3 minutes left in the game, Dre got fouled on a dunk make.

Deandre Hunter Summary: Hunter was great for the second night in a row and ended with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals(tied for 3rd highest in his career) on 6/10 FG and 2/4 from three. I liked his aggressiveness in getting to the rim tonight. He had 3 attempts in the paint vs. three midrange shots which is pleasant to see. The three ball continued to go in tonight. Dre was especially great in the third quarter going ⅘ from the field. In general, I feel he was more decisive in his decision-making. Deandre was able to create havoc with his steals which is something I’ve been waiting for years to see. I think Quinn’s defense allows for havoc creation as Saddiq got his career-high in steals in our first game. Dre was great on that end tonight. Rebounding was mid. There were a couple of bad turnovers but in general, this is what I want to see Dre both on offense and defense. Grade: B+

Dejounte Murray: With under 7 minutes left in the first quarter Murray used the screen and got to the middle for a free throw line jumper. With around 4 minutes in the second, Murray was able to get a bucket in transition off a Trae pass. In the next possession, he made another free-throw line jumper. With under 8 in the second DJ had a tough bounce pass to CC for an open dunk. He had 2 defenders on him. Murray was good on offense ending with 15 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, and 2 steals on an efficient 6/12 FG. He was good in the midrange going ⅗ and went 2/2 fg in the paint. Outside of that, he was inefficient going ⅕ from three. It was a typical game for him scoring-wise. He was fine as a passer but three turnovers is a lot for the assists he had. Where DJM shined most was on the defense of him. He had Dame locked in prison. He was only able to turn the corner on Murray 2-3 times the whole game. It was so bad (for Dame) that he didn’t score until the third quarter. It was probably one of the worst games of his career. The +26 is quite accurate for DJM’s play. Grade: A-

Saddiq Bey was solid tonight back off the bench. Bey buried a catch and shoot three with around 4 minutes left in the first quarter. Bey got a pass from Murray who got a steal from a bad pass from Dame. He was able to get coast to coast for a layup. Bey took advantage of another fastbreak opportunity. He pumped-faked Giannis once he got to the rim and drew a foul while he was in the air. He ended with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists on 4/9 fg. He was mid from midrange with ⅓ fg. Where he got some points was from the free-throw line where he went ⅘. In general, he was solid, aggressive on the board, and played his role well. Grade: B

Onekya Okongwu: OO revived a pass in the middle and was able to make a spin move for a hook shot. With around a minute left in the first, he got an offensive rebound and got a bucket off a floater. With under a minute, he got another second offensive rebound and got a floater blocked by Giannis on the way up. He ended with 14 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, and 1 steal on 7/11 fg and 0/2 from three. He was very efficient inside only missing 2 shots. He was great as a play finisher he also was able to hit his shots a step or two from the rim with hooks, floaters, etc. He looked confident shooting the three, he just missed all his attempts. This is expected at times for him. Rebounding was solid, especially on the offensive end with 4. He got 4 fouls which is typical for OO. Defensively he was fine. B for OO

Trae was fine tonight. He ended with 20, 3 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal on 5/14 shooting, and ⅜ from three. To start the second Trae got three threes up from the 12-minute mark to the 9 minutes mark missing all three. With around 7 minutes in the third Trae finally got a floater to go in. He got a little hot in the 4th and hit 2 threes. Although his shot wasn’t falling in he reverted to the one thing that does work and that’s getting to the free throw line where he shot 7/9. His playmaking was excellent and he only had 3 turnovers which is excellent. His decision-making was pretty solid. If Trae is inefficient at least he can affect the game with his playmaking and ability to get to the line. Hopefully, he can clean up the efficiency and stop shooting tour dates. Grade: C-

  22. Bossross90

Funny things happen when you hustle and play defense. Need to keep the energy like that all year and they’ll be skipping the play-in

  23. Chessh2036

I’ll never understand how we can play the Bucks so well every time and then lose to the Hornets lol. But that’s sports. Great win that can hopefully kick start us.

  24. No-Forever-6104

It’s scary for the league if Trae finally gets an all nba forward and JJ is already on that path 😫😮‍💨

  25. Shadowsvibe

If Trae finds his grove and out supporting cast is really this good we could be dangerous

  26. No-Forever-6104

I’ve been criticizing Clint heavily to start the season but he was great today, I feel like it’s because he finally felt more confident of the help defense and it also helps that Murray’s POA defense was 10/10

  27. No-Forever-6104

Huerter with the dagger in OT over the lakers 🔥

  28. OkPublic3951

Love how against charlotte everyone was on here like we suck gonna be a long season, now the same guys saying we’re dangerous this year smh come on!!!!

  29. Eastatlantalit

Well have we ever played Dame and he played that poorly i would say no . He seemed like he was pressing like a mf he’s a 2 they don’t need to force him to be a team PG he’s not that

  30. Eastatlantalit

Jalen and these cheap fouls i would have just left him in with 4 it killed his rythm after that

  31. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
