Thoughts on TJD?

I like the way he’s played.

Plays very smooth for a rookie hoping he keeps it up

  2. sergechewbacca

A complete steal at the draft. Already more impactful than Wiseman.

  3. andrewthedude101

The diff between him and Wiseman is so wide that it’s kinda sad ngl

  4. Nessmuk58

He and Podz both looked good. Double-double for TJD plus 4 blocks vs. 2 TO and 2 PF. Hard to ask for more than that from a rookie. Makes me wonder what if we had gone for 4-year players instead of 3 teenagers with our Lottery Picks. JK & MM ae starting to look good now, too, but Steph got 3 years older waiting for that to happen. For the moment, I think we have a very strong early-20’s contingent, including TJD, Podz, MM, JK, Quinones, and even Garuba, who we didn’t see tonight.

Ready to be our official backup big 😮‍💨

Gotta get better at finishing at the rim. If he has to, he has to dunk everything. But, he plays hard and within himself, hes athletic, and he’s playing his role.

  7. SeekingSignificance

Wtf? Dude had a double double! I saw he was playing well, but didn’t even notice that!

  8. DatBoiLight21

His first game is already better than ANY Wiseman game… I love his game

  9. ImTheBestNerd

13/9 with 4 blocks in 20 minutes. Steal of the draft

  10. His double jump is so fast and springy so even when he misses a shot or lob, he can grab the rebound and go right back up.

  11. sprinkles5000

Serious keeper. Kerr has to find more time in the rotation.

  12. Friendly_Giant04

I think he’s a beast with lots of potential and much better than wiseman

  13. MrOrangeRepairs

He’s the Brock Purdy of the Warriors! Picked late in the draft and proving to be a stud.

  14. Love him. MJD maneuvering behind the scenes to get him at 57 and in turn allowing us to lock him in on a 4 year contract at an uber cheap rookie scale rate will go down as one of the most underrated and overlooked moves of that draft.

Edit to add: we have him locked in (assuming we pick up the 4th year club option) through 26-27 at the following salaries

    23-24: $1.1 mil
    24-25: $1.9 mil
    25-26: $2.2 mil
    26-27: $2.4 mil

Getting him at those rates when he’s already an able contributor is absolutely insane value.

  15. CrustyRim2

4 blocks. Just looks under control. Both rookies look solid.

Doesn’t seem lost on the court. Doesn’t seem scared or tentative. Impressive for a rookie on a veteran team like the Warriors.

It’s easier being a rookie on a young, losing team with no expectations. It’s harder being on a playoff team.

  17. That-Mountain6916

He’s good and going to get better. A real argument for a player staying in college for 4 years. He’s ready.

  18. Reclinertime

Looney’s understudy and another Bogut in the making.

  19. Marcostbo

Exaclty the kind of Big that we needed coming from the bench. What a steal

  20. shinsplints5

He’s exactly what CP needs in this offense. I really like the Saric/TJD frontcourt, so much spacing if saric can get his shot right.

  21. iGetBuckets3

Thoughts? He’s an absolute dawg. Those are my thoughts.

  22. jabronijajaja

Most nba ready warriors rookie in the last decade?

  23. ProperCuntEsquire

    Na, that’s Jaboukie Young-White

  24. He looks good. He might be playing important minutes if he keeps playing like he did today

  25. lithefeather

This kid is the next generation of the Warriors and I think a lot of us can see it already. This kid knows his play style and how to conduct himself on the court. He also has a really good feel for the rhythm & awareness of the court, like Looney he is smart. He really feels like someone who was truly ready for the next level, with a bit of training he’d fit into the NBA. Unlike a lot of rookies, who look like fawns with no good legs to stand on this dude already knows the fundamentals. He looked like someone with 2 years experience already. I’m impressed. Those NCAA experiences really made him seasoned and ready to be here. I have so much hope for him.

  26. kirbeast34

Every now and then the stars align. Was a perfect system fit coming in and a 4 year NBA ready bench contributer. It’s like they say in engineering: keep it simple stupid. Sometimes teams overthink it and try to do too much. Sometimes you take the double instead of going for a Grand Slam

  27. stevethebayesian

When he drives it can be “Jackson to the hole!”

  28. Its_me_pcloadletter

He’s got grit and he’s hungry to learn from those around him. Already showing to be a steal in the draft.

  29. BandOfBroskis

How the FUCK were 56 players selected before him? After seeing him so far, this is mind boggling.

    #FIFTY SIX!!!

  30. shadowlips

when he puts on more weight, height and muscle, he’s gonna be a beast!

  31. Point blank he is an NBA rotation player. 4 games in, limited minutes, and it’s as clear as day. His ceiling is probably not that high. Like I don’t know if he’ll be a *starter* long term, but the kid can contribute to winning basketball *right now*. Highway robbery at 57.

I’m a born and raised Bay transplant currently in my undergrad at IU and had the pleasure of watching him finish his legendary IU career last spring. Knew he’d be an absolute steal of a pick but wasn’t expecting this to start his career. Watched the game with some friends tonight and we were all losing our minds. Can’t wait to see him develop and make us proud both in the bay and in Btown

  33. Remarkable-Cup-6029

Difficult to not get carried away but he might be our most important draft pick since Draymond Green. He is everything we wanted Wiseman to be. Good rim protector, good switchable defender, good screen setter, decent passer and a genuine vertical threat who knows his role. He is a better fit than Kuminga and a more important positional/skillset need than Moody. Reads the game well, his rotations are crisp etc. He might take Looney’s starting spot by year 2. He has the potential to be a good rebounder as well, right now he is good contesting offensive rebounds and getting us extra possessions but his block hunting makes him a poor/average defensive rebounder but he boxes out well and allows our guards to get easy rebounds. Not perfect but that’s what makes him perfect for us.
