[Woj] Further trade details: The Clippers are sending a 2027 first-round pick swap to Oklahoma City, clearing way for OKC to move a protected 2026 first-round pick to the 76ers, sources said. The Clippers are sending a 2024 and a 2029 second-round pick to the Sixers in the deal too, sources said.

Ok so we get a 2027 pick swap from the Clippers, in order for us to move our 2026 pick to the 76’ers but we’ve added protections onto it?

I think it might end up that we send the worst of our ‘26 picks to Philly, like we did with Denver. Who traded it to Indy
So if I’m tracking this right we’re adding protections to the 26, presumably so that we retain if it’s top 3-5 (just example numbers there). In return for that we’re getting a pick swap in 27 with the Clips.
Value play here definitely depends on the level of protections but I don’t mind that at all
Options would be OKC’s pick with some protections on it; LAC’s pick with some protections on it; HOU’s 5-30 pick with OKC holding some additional protections (would be like HOU gets it 1-4, OKC gets it 5-10 and PHI gets it otherwise); or some more complicated language similar to how IND gets the worst of OKC’s picks this year
That’s not bad at all. Chances are that the Thunder will be better than the clippers come 2027. And if the clippers do blow it up completely by 2026, we still have protections on that pick if it’s anything of value.
