    >He’s also one of three Raptors in the final year of expiring contracts. There has yet to be a hint of extension talk about any of them.

    >So chances are the current situation — (on Siakam) is not going to change much.

    >Come December, assuming he hasn’t been traded already and James Harden and the 76ers proved in the wee hours of Tuesday morning that could still happen, those rumours will begin anew when the trade deadline chatter starts to heat up.

    >And now rather than pushing his own agenda, he’s fully on board with Rajakovic’s plan, not only backing it on the court but with his words between games as well.

    >We can all have our opinions about what we think might transpire going forward, but Siakam, at least, does not come across like a guy looking for a way out.

I’m a big Spicy P fan. I would love nothing more to have him stay on the team. Hopefully he can find his place in Darko’s new system

  3. fingerbangchicknwang

Yeah I’ll pass on Siakam taking 30% of our cap space

I think the comparisons between Pascal and DeMar are interesting. Both great players with some obvious flaws – not at the level of being able to lead your team to a championship but certainly could be a third-best player, and Siakam already proved that.

Both players (completely fairly) were big points of pain for the fanbase for failing to come up clutch when the team needed them most, repeatedly.

That said, I think similar to DeMar, fans are going to be incredibly sad once he leaves (if he leaves). Or at least they SHOULD be. He’s homegrown. Worked his way up from nothing. Loves the city even if he’s quiet about it.

Pascal is top 10 in franchise history across every measure: minutes players, points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, win share. He is an all-time Raptor.

Obviously he’s not a perfect player but let’s not take our guys for granted and only appreciate what we had after they’re gone.

I’ve 0 interest in paying Pascal 50 million a year. We will forever be stuck in no man’s land.

Siakam: “*What more do I need to do to make it clear I want to stay despite the front office giving me ‘help’ a la Garrett Temple and the corpse of Otto Porter?*”

Don’t care what he wants…. He’s not a good fit for this team

  8. Rockin_Zombie

If he doesn’t make all NBA, a max extension for Pascal is totally reasonable ( not super max). That’s an asset that can be traded later. I feel like that might happen during the season, if Pascal’s numbers stay low.

As much as I appreciate all that Pascal has accomplished as a Raptor, I think now is the time to move on from him.

Like DeMar, I think what you get in return for him helps balance out the roster better and pushes this team from “treadmill” team to a consistent playoff threat.

Love to see the core get even younger and grow with Darko and the coaching staff.

I bet he does… i hope he’s ready to take a massive pay cut though.

I love spicy P, I love OG, but if we can get some lottery picks (and manage to have a top 6 this year) that would be a massive ‘near miss’ of being the craptors for the next 7 years.

  12. YouDontJump

I don’t think this has ever changed, has it? From everything I’ve always read he’s maintained that he wants to be here.

  13. hoennking502

It’s time to move on, this is Scottie team and Siakam is not off ball player

He just doesn’t fit and he’s not as talented as Scottie.

You build around the 22 year old star in making

Og fits I think, so Siakam odd man out

  14. knucknbuc

Yes we need to clog up space even more so then we already do at 45+ mil a year on a long term deal! We don’t need shooters in this era of basketball. 6’9 automatically wins games. Fuck it sign him love pascal but uhm demar loved being here too. And he got roasted every second of it but at least he could create his own offense and shoot mid range. Sometimes it’s time to move on and properly reset we have 7 maybe 8 players now that all operate in the same area (Scottie, pascal,Jakob,Thad,Boucher, precious,Dennis) lmao just terrible management

  15. Any-Try-2366

Trade him and get what assets you can get.

  16. Surflover12

He’s a great player raptor fans would have to be idiots not to want him, which might be the case lol

  17. Weeaboo300

Every indication except on the court*

  18. godofhammers3000

The only way for Scottie and Siakam to co-exist is if our center is a floor spacer …

I thought Yak was a solid get for a mid first and the Yak/FVV PnR looked promising enough but I was very wrong

Very tough to build a viable lineup with our stars and Yak

Makes me think our starting lineup should be

    Siakam/Scottie/GTG/Dick/OG

With Dennis and Yak off the bench because they can at least run PnR together

  19. passiveparrot

Siakam is a great player obviously

but is he fitting the timeline with the raptors at its current stage?

    no.

is he asking for a max?

    yes.

Extending him would put the raptors in a worse position to have more talent surrounding the limited youth prospects they currently have.

  20. If we don’t trade him this season I’m out

  21. maintainmo

I absolutely adore pascal. Raptors legend. But i think he could offer a lot more as a number 2 or 3 option on a contender. Best thing he can do for us right now is play his ass off till trade deadline so we can get a good haul for him.

  22. mxgicjohnson

This is like having an amazing loyal girlfriend but things just aren’t working out, and you just have to do what’s best for both of you even though they don’t think it’s the best

Not to mention there’s a new woman you just met (Scottie) that could potentially fill the void and is synonymous with your current life situation. She reminds you a lot of your current girlfriend

  23. Raptors887

Unfortunately for him if we keep losing he is not getting brought back. There’s no reason to give out huge contracts to a team that can’t win.
