“Bally Sports trouble could transform how fans watch sports”
This article is from June, and it’s about baseball. That said, Bally sports is a disaster. It’s interesting that in this instance a team seemingly directly took over the streaming service (still charging $20 per month, too much, but still…) and worked directly with the consumer. Another interesting tidbit was the possibility floated of teams going back to an over the air broadcast option for local teams games. THAT in my opinion is where it needs to go, especially to grow the brand. How the hell are they supposed to foster new fans if your local NBA team is behind essentially a $20 dollar paywall? Get real. You can watch the Colts for free. Cable is DYING. Maybe Bally’s ineptitude will actually lead us to better things in the long run.
