What a win! Nets beat Heat in epic comeback led by the bench unit

The Brooklyn Nets went into Miami to face the Heat on Wednesday dealing with some injuries and as underdogs. They came out with the win. In a massive comeback through the second half, guys like Armoni Brooks, Lonnie Walker, and Trendon Watford led a bench barrage that got the Nets back into the game before the starters closed it out.

It was one of the team’s better wins in the last couple of years and showed that this team can be more than the sum of its parts. Even with a rough shooting game for Cam Thomas and a lower scoring night from Mikal Bridges, Brooklyn scrapped and clawed their way back to take down Miami.

  1. Cam Thomas definitely needs to use tonight as a learning lesson for himself. He wasn't in his usual scoring rhythm because the Heat were very aggressive at defending him and the refs didn't call fouls on plays where he thought he should have gone to the line…

For Cam going forward he needs to continue to try to get into the paint and just read the defense more and look for loopholes to unleash his offense. He had some better moments in that third quarter but definitely hope Thomas learns from tonight and keeps moving forward….

  2. so remember when this channel was asking about the free pass Sean Marks has? Even if the rest of this season everyone gets injured and we miss the playoffs, Marks just bought another 2 years

  3. Incredible win! – come from behind W against the defending Eastern Conference champions – Wow! Had it not been for the last minute collapse in the 1st game and Luka Doncic in G2, the Nets could very easily be 4-0. Very pleasantly surprised so far with the Brooklyn Nets 2023-24.

  4. Lumbering means moving in a slow, heavy, awkward way. Will there always be room for "lumbering giants" in the NBA? Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Brook Lopez, Rudy Gobert, Robert Williams, Steve Adams, and Nikola Vucevic are all lumbering giants that are having good/great careers. Two have championship rings. If lumbering giants have their skill set, there will always be room in the NBA for them. @Adam Armbrecht

  5. Sean Marks did a nice job of picking up some quality players on the cheap in the offseason. Even with injuries to starters, we can still field a team with dudes who can compete.

  6. This is the first game where in the last 5 minutes Simmons, concentrated on Defence he didn't get it together until the last 5 minutes (he was trying all GM to lock it up). Remember this one,you guys have seen nothing yet imo

  7. Yes sirrrrrrrt lets goooooo fellas!! Need that Chicago win Friday because the next 4 after will be tough … think we can take one from Boston tho

  8. This is the sort of improbable win that feels like a give back for the Dallas game. I mean pretty much all your starters didn’t play very well at all. Cam Thomas looked human, and you still pulled out a win after calling up a two way player.

  9. I think it’s pretty important for the Nets specifically marks to get a good look at some of these project players that he’s brought on as they move close to the trade deadline deadline. Another guy is Dariq whitehead and his development. Can he make an impact down the line.
If all of a sudden you have these interchangeable players who are younger and cheaper, and can be trusted now guys like DFS and Dinwiddie and O’Neil become treatable because a guy like Watford can replace what DFS does, and maybe whitehead can do some of the things that Dinwiddie can do.

  10. That was a great team effort, a well-executed game plan. Thank you coach Vaughn and everyone else who played a great game

  11. Armoni freaking brooks!! Wow. Cam was getting clobbered and they werent calling fouls but we just found our 1:1 replacement for him off the bench. Warford is a beast too he needs 15+ mins a game asap. Simmons defense and rebounding was key. We out rebounded the heat! Huge accomplishments for the team and we are just getting better

  12. I like bridges as much as any nets fan i don’t see bridges as a Batman. I think he could be one of the best robins in the league number two but offensively I just don’t see a number one in him . under the right circumstances thomas could be the best offensive weapon if u look at strictly this season he had proved that hell last season 2 wen they lost him play

  13. Brooks and Watford provided the crucial spark we needed to stay in the game and keep it close. While everyone, including the coach, had their ups and downs, Kudos to Jacque Vaughn for his unwavering perseverance during the tough moments. In the first two games of the season, there were hasty decisions that cost us wins, but Jacque Vaughn redeemed himself in this game against the Heat. He inspired the team not to give up on themselves by maintaining composure, especially by sticking with Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas, a contrast to the first two games. Facing the formidable Miami Heat, known for disrupting and dismantling teams like the Bucks, Knicks, and Celtics consecutively, we encountered challenging moments. However, it was truly a testament to the collective effort and "Brooklyn Grit" that led to this win. It was a team win through and through.

  14. nets basketball, nice to have you back after 20 years. Simmons is 1 part Kidd and 1 part Kmart and 1 part Josh Boone. We are extremely fortunate to have stolen CT in the draft, and also fortunate to pair him with dayron and Watford. The roster structure is unique and deep, also chemistry just beginning. Hope this is the same unit we end the season with
