(Robb) New: After a great FIBA World Cup, Daniel Theis has not played a game all season for the Pacers. I caught up with the big man on Wednesday night and he didn’t hold back about his bizarre situation in Indiana

Also, I thought the Celtics couldn’t sign Theis on a buyout deal since under the new CBA, first/second tax apron teams can’t sign buyout players.

However, Keith Smith said this last year: “In the new NBA CBA, teams that are above the first tax apron (approximately $7M above the tax) will not be able to sign “buyout” players. A “buyout” player is defined as anyone waived during that season who had a pre-waiver salary amount greater than that of that season’s NTMLE.”

Theis makes less than the NTMLE, I believe, so it might be possible

I can’t imagine a player would willingly return to a franchise that traded him twice assuming there’s at least 1 other team offering him a contract, because there’s a good possibility he’d get traded for a 3rd time.

It’s not like there would be many minutes for him here either…

But I’d love to see him back!

We need the War on Theis back! Because right now, it’s looking like Warzingus is breaking out. He’s been averaging 4 fouls a game and some pretty soft ones in there.

Huh. That’s the first time he’s expressed much frustration with being benched. Theis buyout might be back on the menu

I know a lot of C’s fans would favor a reunion but, as far as opportunity goes, I wonder if he’d find success reuniting with Marcus in Memphis, helping to fill the Steven Adams sized hole in their front court.

If we got Theis back on a buyout then Brad swinging the fences on acquiring another rotational piece using the Grant TPE 👀

I can not stress this enough – it’s a fuckin WRAP if we bring Theis home.

    Theis is nice!!!

Being able to get Theis back again would be the absolute ultimate. Slotting him in as the 3rd C would be the final nail in the coffin for the league.

Definitely a guy the Celtics should have their eye on for that 3rd big spot. He has familiarity with Tatum & Brown and that 3rd big role would be perfect for his skill set . There’s a spot for him in this league and I hope he gets the PT he’s looking for.

Theis and Hayward would be great buyout guys
