Something people don’t really take into account is how much development time and how many games did this years and the next few draft classes miss due to covid? I’m not at all concerned; they’re barely 19 with a year or more of lost time to make up for and Keyonte is STILL contributing at an NBA level is amazing; I have a feeling Brice and Taylor will come along more quickly than expected.

As much as we’d love to see our 9th overall pick get minutes, it just makes sense what the Jazz are doing now. We’re not a great team, but we’re pretty deep with veterans especially in the frontcourt. Hendricks was literally the biggest riser in college basketball last season after being ranked 59th in ESPN’s Top 100 in his recruiting class. Right now, Hendricks profiles as a 3&D big with very unrefined feel for the game – especially on offense. You don’t want the ball to spend much time in his hands. Taking the time to patiently develop in the G-League and grow into an NBA body is the right prescription for Hendricks. You could see how timid and cautious he was in the preseason. Get him comfortable in the system, let him improve his handle and put up 20 shots a game with the Stars.
Sensabaugh, on the other hand, likely needs conditioning coming off of his knee rehab. His game is tailor-made to come off the bench and score in bunches. The main thing for him would be learning how to play a ROLE in an NBA system, rather than be a ball-stopper. He won’t be allowed to dribble to the top of the key and shoot midrange fadeaways every possession (which he’s amazing at). His defense is the biggest skill he needs to improve for sure. He will definitely have the green light with the Stars and could probably lead the G-League in scoring.
