I’ve been saying to all my doomer friends who keep saying he’s a bust, he’s 19 playing arguably the most important role on a team against grown men. Anyone who actually watched the games can see ELITE flashes of play making and athleticism, how many drives does he blow past three people to just barely miss the lay up, or how many passes are stolen because other players can’t keep up with his pace and be in the right spot. This is a new young team, we’re gunna struggle, he’s gunna look BAD sometimes this all part of the process.

Use Shae or Ant as an example. It takes years to figure out the NBA game and more so as the floor general. We were spoiled with Dame because of his college experience and age.

His analysis is “he likes to play”. Sounds like Garth from Wayne’s World.

One thing I don’t think gets talked about enough re: Scoot’s struggles is just how bad our spacing is. Without Simons, we have 3 guys that are reliable 3 point shooters. Brogdon doesn’t really space since he’s on the ball so much, JG likes to space out to 20′ only most of the time, and Sharpe doesn’t have floor altering gravity yet as a shooter. Scoot is definitely making reads a split second too late, but the windows are also smaller for him than they will be next year and beyond.

Edit: I’m not saying I don’t think guys like Camara aren’t capable of making 3s, just thinking more in terms of opposing teams scouting reports.

One thing I have noticed is that our bigs don’t set very good screens. Ayton barely screens at all, Williams is a bit better but ultimately defenders are able to go over the screen easily.

For scoot, who offers zero value off-ball right now, he really needs someone to be physical and allow him space to work

The “talent” for acquiring “skill” is a function of enthusiasm over time.
