How The Denver Nuggets Gave the Dallas Mavericks a Reality Check

Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets gave the Dallas Mavericks their first loss of the season on opening night of the In-Season Tournament. Was their court an abomination? Yes. But want to know what was an even bigger abomination? The Dallas Mavericks rebounding. Here’s how the Denver Nuggets handled the Dallas Mavericks despite a big scoring night from Luka Doncic.

  1. Thank you for pointing it out that its crazy the Mavs are letting Tim run the offense when Luka is out and its Tim and Kyrie as the primary scorers… that entire offense is Tim getting close to the 3pt line and jacking a contested 3, which has worked against average to below-average teams, that style of play looks horrible against playoff and championship-contending teams.

  2. Nuggets said… let’s show Mavs that they don’t really have a scary presence at the rim… and grabbed 19 offensive rebounds.

  3. There’s no shame in losing to the nuggets. They’re a fantastic team. I still think the Mavs are a good team but they need to clean up the rebounding and they’ll be fine. The next three games are against the hornets, magic, and raptors. As long as the Mavs take care of business they should be 7-1 to start the season.

  4. The behind the back pass was for Reggie. If he kept cutting he'd get it. It was probably a set play made by Jokic that Reggie forgot. He stopped cutting.

  5. Denver was my backup team last year and I watched all their games throughout the playoffs after Dallas tanked. What we saw last night was Denver in their top form, possibly because Dallas just doesn’t have the size to stop them but I feel like they weren’t fucking around at all. Considering how bad Dallas played, it may be somewhat of a moral victory that we were even in it.

  6. Jokic always gives a little extra effort against Dallas. He has to remind Luka who's the best player lol

  7. I get why you are saying some of this stuff. But realistically they are a Jonathan isac trade for thj and a more prominent offense role for kyrie away

  8. Damn, I was really about to say that I disagree, that we definitly could've won this game with just a fair whistle and a decent 3 pts % . But then I double checked and we shot 40 % from 3 … Fck we'r still so fckin far from being a contender…. That's actually sad.

  9. this is just me but I think NBA for now just want the extra publicity, hey every publicity is good publicity. they're really pushing this In-Season tournament to "combat NFL" ratings.
next season they will fix it

  10. for me, luca and their teammates have to be more like nuggets with luca have to keep less the ball and his teammates to find more solution other then pass to luca they have to improve reboud, screen, ball share etc…

  11. One game it’s one game. I think the mavs could still beat the nuggets in a 7 game series but I admit it would go 7. And who what would happen.
