Why
Out rebounded pretty badly tonight. 2nd chance points were huge.
Edit: we just need to let these guys play more reps together. I’m not worried. Our talent level is there. Zion does need to rebound more tho. It can be “gang rebounding” but Zion can’t have 5 rebs.
We got punched in the mouth tonight. Jerseys look great. On to the next one.
Every day I’m sufferin’
Every day I’m sufferin
Every day I’m sufferin
Every day I’m, every day I’m, every day I’m sufferin’
The gang can’t buy a shot
We don’t match up well with these guys at all.. but I’m sorry, I just don’t see how Willie green is a top 20 coach (SCHEMATICALLY, XOs, he’s 100% not)
How can we consistently win when our players have to work so much harder than other teams? Bad matchup sure but we go over 95% of screens no matter who is ball handling.. you go over playing Steph and Trae. Not literally every single ball handler.. please point me out any time we have gone under screens, it’s schematic at this point
If you have awful paint defenders and they can’t move their feet.. how about you try going under a screen or two to protect them?🤣 they might just be Willie greens scapegoat… because this is simple
FUCK.
I wonder if we’re going to get diatribes on professionalism and leadership all over socials this time.
This Atlanta team executed *much* better than our most recent opponents, and we couldn’t get away with our glaring flaws this time. Our rebounding has been poor the entire season; it needs to be a **team** effort. The Warriors game wasn’t only lost because Steph is Steph, it’s because they’ve mastered small ball and guys individually work for boards.
Zion and BI imho are fantastic *individual* talents that have little to no idea how to play off one another effectively. It’s simple to say that rotations need to be better, not giving those guys shooting to let them work is a travesty. But Z and BI need sets playing off of one another’s actions if they’re ever going to be a force together in this league.
Thank God was have Joel and AD as commentators to make the game watchable.
Zion only a -4 but mfers want to blame him for our defense falling apart
I’m trying to be a fan of Kira but got damn it bruh sucks.
P O I N T Z I O N
This game is 70% on willie and 30% on Zion. The rotations and spacing were atrocious, and when just Bi was out there I thought I was watching a 90s game.
but someones gotta take Zion aside and have a tough talk with him, for the last three games he’s played his defence has been abysmal, and it’s fucking the team defence up
Edit: for people downvoting please tell me how this wasn’t on Zion?
Fantastic game from BI, but everyone else let him down, Zion especially. BI was carrying us all night giving 100% on defense and offense. Just a shame the team let him down after he played so amazing
Apologies ahead of time but I need to vent. I grasp the concept of shooting a ton of 3’s to space the court. In theory it spaces the floor to allow penetration from Zion and other players. But I don’t think the Pelicans have the personnel to make a high enough percentage of 3’s.
Those of you who watched the Hawks broadcast heard Dominique point out New Orleans was putting up threes with absolutely nobody under the basket to get a potential rebound. 3’s have a tendency to have long rebounds. But it seems like the players are so focused on getting back on D or something, they cede the rebound.
9 offensive rebounds as a team. The Hawks had 19. The Pels had 7 against Detroit. I don’t expect the 22 offensive rebounds they had against Oklahoma City. But posting Zion in the corner when someone else is shooting a 3 is taking him away from where he needs to be when that shot is released.
Disappointing loss after having an early lead then losing by double digits. Herb has been better from 3 this season, other players have as well. But until TM III returns, I think the game plan she be slightly more focused on taking it inside.
Since they’ve both been here, every time I watched BI and Zion individually, I think their games should complement each well on court…Then whenever they actually play together they just never look like they mesh well to me.
One reason I was happy they announced BI would be on the fiba team this past summer was because I wanted to see him with other good/great or better players around him because to me he never looks comfortable in those situations. Then…he looked (mostly) how I feared he would.
They need to find a way to get these dudes to start working off each other. I don’t care how many times they’ve actually played together, it’s still been five years and they need to figure out how to be better.
So in what world did Willie think a lineup where we played 4 out offense with only BI(the ballhandler) as the only shooter was going to work? Why did he play that for 4 minutes in the 3rd as the lead got erased and the hawks grew theres?
Dang I don’t want to be another mid team this season. with all our players healthy I don’t think we should be, but idk after this drumming.
Meh, we always struggle against Trae and the whistle he gets. Onto the next one
Feels like our offense is trying to be too balanced.
BI with only 10 shots , Z with 16.. that’s not right. They only played 32 minutes… that’s not right. If this is the amount of minutes and shots they’re getting now what happens when Murphy and Jose come back?
