Nice game from everyone around! Trae picked it up in the second half and looked like the leader we need.
Jalen makes me a very happy dude
How many times last year would we have won a game we were getting bullied in the first half . Mind you we shot 5-17 from 3 in the first half at that . We just stay steady and even keeled Quinn doesn’t complain to ref’s that much and our team kind of takes that just hoop mentality
They got cold on the 2nd half but thank you Bogi and Bey for keeping us afloat giving our starters time finding their rhythm.
We got a squad
This is why having 2 good but different Centers is so good. Clint started bad , put OO in he holds it down. The size of the Pelicans starts to overwhelm OO so put Clint back in and he plays amazingly. Then finally finish with OO to wake the offense up
I’m really looking forward to that Hawks vs Magic game in Mexico City, both teams in their turn around seasons
What a second half man this team is dangerous
Given this team’s fire power already, I’ll take 4 points from Hunter with excellent defense over 20 points and horrible defense Hunter any day of the week
Jalen Johnson will be known as the third best player by the end of the year
Takeaways so far this year:
– Trae’s play is getting better, not vintage trae yet, but we may be balancing our scoring out much better this year and the best version of trae might just be 22ppg and 10 assists instead of 30ppg
– DJ’s shot is not the weakness it was considered when we got him. He’s been there whenever we need him, and our more aggressive team defense is playing into his favor.
– JJ is becoming the player our delusional homer hopes and dreams thought he could be. He is a massive problem and is the piece we need to break out to make it into the upper eschelon in the east.
– Clint is the same old clint. Great role player, and we need him (if he does end up moved, we at least need a similar player to him who can grab boards and rim protect).
– OO’s bbiq feels so high. Glad to see him stretch to the 3 point line. He’s doing a lot of the draymond thing with moving around screening all over the court and looking for outlet shooters. Love it, we’ve needed that.
– I’m hesitant to say Hunter has made a jump but he’s been solid thus far this year, and his shot selection and offensive approach has looked better so far.
– Bey continues to be a great role player. Surprised me that he was able to adopt the team concept so quickly after being more of a gunner in Detroit. He’s proven himself to me as a legit role player for a contender in this league.
– Even on a modest bogi night, he looks in postseason form already. Having a healthy summer with the summer tournament got him in rhythm. Also is it just me or is he getting a lot more steals?
– Was glad to see Mathews get a look but don’t think he showed much.
– Still think AJ is a while a way from breaking into the rotation but has promise as a shooter and is great depth.
– Hope to get Gueye worked into some modest minutes by the end of the year, i like his potential in 2 years a lot.
Now this? This is the shit I like. I ride for this squad and coaching staff all day
We have a head coach that makes adjustments at halftime 😭😭😭 I used to pray for this
This was one of the first games I’ve seen Trae mature with his play style . Typically when we are down he forces up shots or does a bunch of foul baits . But he knew other guys had it rolling and let them eat too
Love this team have so many accts band on this site so I’m trying to lay low, atlien fan since ‘07 go hox
I think this the best the Hawks have played since the 60-win team went nuts. Everyone is playing well but I too will sing JJ’s praises. He’s all over the place making plays, but the thing I love the most is he’s a release valve from the 4 that we haven’t had in the past. With the clock winding down he can get a tough bucket for himself or he can set up someone else for an easy shot.
couldve been 4 straight double digit wins if we didnt play around with the wizards but WE MOVE 🫡
This is the most balanced Hawks team I’ve seen in years. Quins coaching is really starting to show. The less hero ball Trae and DJ are forced to play the better. 80-2 season still intact. Caw caw caw!
Big turn around against Minny in 2nd half, now another one 2 games later against NO – love Quin.
This version of DJ and Hunter is like adding two completely new players to the squad 🤭
I forgot that New Orleans was coming off a back to back (iirc). That’s tough. I don’t feel as bad though because Ingram and Zion sat out, and because of our performance against the bucks, also on a back to back.
😌
Is anybody sweating losing John Collins these days? Lol
The last 3rd quarters: 38-19 against the twolves, 40-31 vs the wizards, and 41-23 tonight vs the Pels. 👀 Snyder difference 👀

Quin’s presser was a master class on how to embrace the nuances that give teams a chance to win. Complimentary on all the right things.
Play and highlight of the game was the back to back 3s by Onyeka!!!
Jalen Johnson putting up pascal stats while younger than Pascal when he entered the league
Gotta apologize to papi30 lol u might be right about the squad
lamelo locking hali in the clutch to get the hornets their second win lmao
Was able to catch the second half of the game and I’m impressed with how Quin has these guys working. The second half adjustments on D have been great and that seems to propel the offense to the runs we need to win
When we win, we get no attention, but when we lose, we get clowned by everyone
Really loved seeing the team defense on Ingram and Zion. It’s not often you see Ingram shoot only 10 times. And Zion is built like a brick shithouse but the team made him work. Capela seems like one of the few guys who can actually impede him in some way
[hawks fan tv becoming credentialed media lmao](https://x.com/hawksfantv/status/1720987341228044319?s=46&t=dBLyV43_iGgzOBRNUPRJWA)
now they can get their own info instead of posting credentialed hawks reporters and not giving credit! happy for them 💪🏾
Ever since I made the claim that Paolo > DJ. I feel like DJ saw my post, got triggered and started to ball.
Love that!
I knew nothing pisses him off more
Quin also played the starters down to the last second. Statement or just not taking chances?
This is the continued type of play we need out of sweet baby Trae. Trae’s not an efficient enough scorer to avg 25+ppg. He needs the play the Chris Paul esque role and avg somewhere around 20-23 ppg while leading the league in assists. The hawks have enough offensive pieces now with the emergence of JJ, a full season of Bey and a more consistent Deandre Hunter. (hopefully)
Your HaWWWWks win 123-105 in an excellent victory against the New Orleans Pelicans making them 4-2. This is also their 4th victory in a row. It was an excellent team victory with 7 players scoring in double digits.
Trae Young Highlights: With 7 minutes in the first quarter Trae hit a midrange shot off for second-chance points. With a few minutes left in the first Trae had a bad turnover trying to bounce a pass to someone in the middle after being doubled. With under 6 minutes in the second he found Clint for a relatively open dunk. With under three minutes in the half, Trae got his shot blocked from behind on a second-chance opportunity. He scrambled to get the ball back and made a midrange shot. Trae started his third quarter by getting blocked by Vanacunas. With around 10 minutes left, he got a floater to go in. With around 7 minutes left in the third, he found Clint for a lob. With around 6 minutes left, he faked Zion on a long-range three, took a couple of dribbles, and hit a one-legged three-point shot with a few seconds left in the shot clock. With under 6 minutes left, he hit a long-range bomb from the wing of the Pelicans logo. The next possession his pass got tipped but he was able to control it and tip it to Hunter for a catch and shoot three. With under 4 minutes, he tried to draw a foul and ended up with a crazy double clutch and-1 layup. With under 6 minutes in the game, Trae shot an airball three with the shot clock winding down. With under 4 minutes left in the game, Trae hit a long-range bomb from the “T” in the smoothie center.
Trae Young Summary: Trae ended with 22 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal on 7/15 shooting and 3/7 from three and ⅚ ft. This has to be the most efficient game Trae has had this season. Trae was rough in the 1st quarter and played a little sloppily but after that, he improved throughout the game. Trae was doubled a lot throughout the game which led to some turnovers. He had 5 total for the game. Other than that his decision-making was pretty decent. Trae was inefficient in the 1st half and shot 2/8 including 0/3 from three. In the second half, he went 5/7 from the field including ¾ from three. Rebounding was solid for Trae. Nothing but positives for Trae tonight.Grade: A-
Deandre Hunter: With around 7 minutes in the first Hunter tried a post up on Ingram which got the ball poked and resulted in a turnover. Hunter wasn’t able to fully get back on defense and he was holding his finger walking back. He called to be taken out of the game and was subbed for Saddiq. With around 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, he had a good block on Zion charging to the rim. He was also able to secure the rebound from the block. Hunter ended the game with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist on ⅓ fg and ½ from three. Although Hunter wasn’t great on offense he was excellent on defense. He had multiple good positions on Zion and Ingram. He was above average in rebounding. Hunter should always be aiming for 5 to 6 of them per game.He had 2 turnovers in the game both were in the first half. In all, I thought he was solid because of what he contributed defensively. His plus-17 is accurate for his play tonight. Grade: B-
Jalen Johnson Highlights: With around 6 minutes in the first Jalen got a driving layup. To start the second Jalen attacked the rim driving baseline after faking a defender and unfortunately got called for an offensive foul. After going 0/3 in the second quarter, he finally hit a wide-open cutting dunk on a break. With three minutes left in the half, he received the ball from Trae in a PNR action and made the second pass to Clint for a lightly contested dunk. With around 9 minutes in the third quarter, Jalen missed a wide-open lob attempt. Luckily this was cleaned up by Clint. On the next possession, he hit a three-off Hunter pass. With around 8 minutes he caught a lob off a Dejounte pass. A couple of possessions later he drew a foul in transition. With under 2 minutes, he hit a putback layup. With around a minute left, Jalen found OO for a lob. With around 9 minutes in the fourth quarter, he got fouled on a lob attempt and made 1 free throw. With around a minute and a half in the game, Jalen got a putback shot off a Clint putback miss. The next possession, he found Capela in the short roll for a layup.
Jalen Johnson Summary: Jalen ended the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists on 8/13 FG, ⅔ three-pointers, and ¾ free throws. Other than the rough patch in the second half Jalen was excellent. He was strong for the other three and scored 7 in the first, 7 in the third, and 6 in the 4th. He was excellent as a scorer tonight he was able to get downhill and score on his own. I feel like they utilized his ability as a lob threat the most this season tonight and it came with a decent amount of success. He was efficient with a 71% TS. JJ was active on the boards tonight and chipped in 2 offensive rebounds. Passing was better than usual tonight and he made a few reads to our centers. His passing also allowed connective passes to be made and open shots to be created. Defensively I thought he was good along with Clint in the second half. Grade: A+
Saddiq Bey Highlights: With around 7 minutes in the first quarter, Saddiq came in after the Hunter injury and immediately made an impact. First, he got a steal and passed to DJM for a shot on the break that didn’t go in. After a couple of tries, it was Saddiq who got second-chance points. After some ball movement, he hit a wide-open three which prompted a Pelicans timeout and put the Hawks up one point. Bey had an offensive rebound. He got blocked on his putback attempt and hit in the face but didn’t get a call. A bit later in the quarter, Bey hit his second three with under 7 minutes in the second quarter Bey had another offensive rebound and putback opportunity. He got blocked again with no foul call. Bey came in the fourth and immediately made a layup on an out-of-bounds.
Saddiq Bey Summary: Bey ended with 12 points, 5 rebounds 2 assists, and 1 steal on 5/13 FG and 2/7 from three. As the highlights state Bey was solid in the first quarter and he scored 10 points, 4 rebounds on 4/6 fg, and ⅔ from three. The second quarter was a different story and he went 0/4 fg and 0/3 from three. In the second half, he scored 2 points and 2 assists on 0/3 FG and 0/2 from three. The whole story paints a bad game from Bey for three quarters. It’s disappointing because the shots he gets are relatively open. He was ineffective on the boards after the first quarter. Defensively I didn’t see anything particularly great or bad. It was a very mid-game from Bey. Grade: C
Bogdan Bogdonavic: Bogi hit a catch and shoot three to start the second. A couple of possessions later he had a steal and had a wide-open dunk. A couple of possessions later he had a nice tip out allowing a second chance opportunity. He hit a second catch and shoot corner three a couple of possessions later. With under 8 he cleaned up a Jalen miss on a break opportunity and got a tip in. Bogi ended with 10 points, 5 rebounds 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks on 4/14 fg and 2/10 from three. Bogi struggled in the first quarter going 0/5 including 4 three-pointer attempts. During the second quarter, he went off and scored 4/6 fg including 2/4 from three. He went cold the rest of the game going 0/3. Although he didn’t hit his shots he still provided spacing. Bogi needs to be covered from a distance or else the opposing team will pay. Defensively, Bogi was active and provided energy on defense. Other than that it was a below-average game for him. Grade: C
Hawks are looking pretty good.
FTS
Talk to your family about Jalen Johnson
We are going to have a pretty nasty 8 man playoff rotation.
I’m a little late here but HAWWWWKS!
Trae had such a good night looking at the box score. No hero ball.
at this point i don’t see how anyone can still say back to back milk duds as head coaches weren’t a big problem. we essentially have the same personnel aside from losing our 3rd option/2nd best defender and yet our offense and defense look completely different compared to what had going on last year. even if you don’t wanna say Nate was a bad coach, i think it’s fair to say he simply wasn’t the guy to manage the flaws of our roster.
We won
This team feels kind of special. Trae is playing to his strengths and everyone is stepping up
Is there a team discord? The sidebar link seems to be dead
How was the game folks ? I missed watching it live … will have to play catch up
