Welcome to another episode of The Old Man and The Three Things. This week on OM3 Things, we welcome in Steve Jones and Nekias Duncan of The Dunker Spot to talk about our big week 2 takeaways. First up, Nekias talks about “The Scottie Leap” and what he’s seen from Scottie Barnes that’s made him optimistic about this season for him and the Toronto Raptors. Then Steve opens up a discussion about the Milwaukee Bucks poor defense this season due to the Jrue Holiday / Damian Lillard trade. And finally JJ Redick talks about the kind of player he’d like to see The Philadelphia 76ers trade for to pair with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Spoiler – it’s not a superstar.

Thanks for watching. Let us know which teams you'd like us to cover next week. Also FYI – we have a really special interview this Wednesday that you're not going to want to miss. So subscribe if you haven't and we'll see you then.
I think if there’s anyone Philly should look into it’s Pat Williams. Best isolation defender in the league last season and a 40% clip from deep. Would slide right into that 3 spot which is his natural position and i think Nurse could really unlock him. Essentially OG but probably much cheaper.
Bucks miss Jrue ALOT. Stopping ball at the point of attack is something the Bucks have struggled with for sure this year.
Respect JJ and guests on some Raptors love. Scottie is ascending and Siakem is a better robin or Alfred imo. Siakem also doesn't like change, takes a bit longer to adapt. I promised myself to not judge the team until 20 games, but Barnes is the player i hoped he would be. When he imposes his will, he is not gonna be stopped. Last nights game was a positive, horrible first half, but best 24 minutes this season so far in second half. OG is also taking a step, his D and 3's was what won last night, plus the tying basket. In season courts are god awful
You know what player would be a perfect fit for Philly? Jimmy Butler lmao 🤣🤣🤣
Giannis is regressing and the coach is new and dame is horrible on defense. They don’t have good defenders
You heard it here. Scottie Barnes is the next Kawhi. The whole package.
Og and Deandre Hunter are my two ideal pieces for the Sixers.
Somebody in the media has to be honest about Giannis. He’s so limited and he doesn’t make smart decisions.
Bucks are 3-2 with quality wins over heat, ny and Philly, all of whom will be in the postseason. "Slow start" is false
this whole part about jaden ivey can be very nicely compared to jeremy sochans offensive struggles and how spurs are trying to deal with it
the fact that they got wembanyama on the team and sochans developement is their priority this season speaks volumes
I knew the bucks would struggle early on but its only been 5 games its not like there terrible team just look off is all later in the year they will be much better
It would be amazing if Philly can get both Caruso and OG. Then they can match up pretty well with anyone.
Did people really think they were just gona click they have to struggle in the beggining
scottie is the future Embiid
Toronto fan, thanks for the coverage. Nice to hear from our friends in the States.
As a Bucks fan this team is a joke. Giannis does not even look like a top 20 player in the NBA. Dame time has been great but the rest of Dame has been terrible. I spend most of the games watching Dame sit in a corner not moving. And I think to myself I could spend 15 minutes of my time and run a better offense than the Bucks. Lets be real Bucks coach AG would be lucky to coach in the G-League. He has no business on the Bucks besides he got some idiot to believe in him. We all know that idiot is Giannis who is the lowest IQ player in the NBA.
JJ, only one team beat 3 teams with winning records last week, and that was the Atlanta Hawks. You may owe Zach Lowe an apology for dismissing the conversation, when he brought up the Hawks on your season preview.
The last two champions were Denver with 1 superstar, 1 star, and solid players. The Warriors won before them with 1 superstar and many solid players. Wiggins was the 2nd best player on that Warriors championship team. The Bucks won before that with 1 Superstar and two high-end solid players in Middleton and Jrue Holiday.
The Sixers don't need three stars. Embiid is a superstar and Maxey is going to be a star.
The Sixers have only been missing coaching and injury health. They have enough right now.
First thing I would do if I was head coach of the Bucks would be gathering up film of the Suns in their prime with Nash and Stoudemire. I would get Dame and Giannis in a room and lock them in it for days and force them to watch these two players run the pick and roll. It's a throw away season anyway. The second Stotts left the season was over. Maybe even the second Bud was fired the window of winning was over for the Bucks.
