[Landon Thomas] Jason Kidd is out here coaching, I’m impressed. • 6-0 overall (all clutch games) • Putting THJ as 6th man • Trusting Jones Jr. in lineup • Making adjustments • Inserting Lively II in lineup • Finding a role for Jaden Hardy • Timeout Management • Luka / Kyrie works

He’s earned a demotion from enemy no.1 to no. 2, just behind first half demons.
Kidd’s 1st season: Incredible. To have a top 5 defense with Dwight Powell as a starter is incredible work.
2nd season: Horrid. Wood/McGee situation was awful. The clutch time offense was nothing short of catastrophic. Only thing I’ll say was he was dealt an awful hand of losing Brunson, Green/Doe both missed like 15 games at the same time, then trading 2 starters for Kyrie.
Here’s the thing: our offense is gonna be the same with any coach we hire imho. Luka is gonna play the way he plays, which is spamming PnR and matchup hunt. And it’s fine, we sleepwalk to a top 5 offense.
Kidd knows he basically only has to worry about defense. He’s doing a hell of a job in the clutch, both ways. Rotations are becoming sharper. Can’t imagine what he’d do adding an elite POA defender with Grant and Lively behind.
Kidd knew we’ll lose against the Nuggets that’s why he bailed. /s
J Kidd as head coach has a better record than the Dallas Mavs, 6-0
Once Kyries shot starts falling we’re really gonna start rolling. He’s been a 50/40/90 guy the last 5-6 years he’s not gonna have a crazy drop off at 31
Taking away his poor coaching decision of letting Bullock play and get minutes over others in the crunch while shooting like crap for half a season is underrated. Otherwise this would look very similar.
I think having Lively at this level which not many people expected (including me) is basically making this possible. The balance of players is really nice to see, the entire starting five with positive +/-, balanced scoring when Luka is not in magic mode … looking good. Depending on Luka scoring 40+ in most games doesn’t make a serious playoff team.
