He was grabbing a ton of boards out there and making the right plays. He has been playing well for the most part just hasn’t been scoring as much as we’d like or need.
pdunn472
His confidence is completely shot and he’s trying to do too much and it’s just leading to too many mistakes. They desperately need a guard off the bench that can play
UberAndLyftSuck
Any time he’s out there with Tatum and an offensive trip ends up with him shooting the ball without Tatum touching it a single time I die inside
HS941317
That one bricked wide open corner three leading to a Minnesota corner three point basket just pissed me off lol. PP needs to impact the game better. His best attribute can’t be his rebounding these days..
gochuuuu
If he cant make his open threes, he is nothing but a burden. Hope he wakes the fuck up
a1mrbhelpuri
I had high hopes for him but yeah he’s not good. Only 6 games in so hopefully he improves
20wall
His contract is tradeable. That’s literally the only positive about him. He sucks

“But his hustle tho…” GINO guy

I’m just surprised anybody expected him to be good. He’s never really been any good, thus rarely played.
Ultimate AAAA player. Just too small for the league to not be a great finisher at the rim. Only guys that size that stick around are either phenomenal passers/playmakers and guys who can finish through anybody at the trim. Pritchard isn’t either. I’ve never seen it with him.
Just looks lost out there.

8/30 on the year from the field, 2/20 if you remove the blowout win against Indiana. He cannot have games where he goes scoreless in 20+ minutes especially if D White isn’t playing
GhostOfJiriWelsch
His style of play just doesn’t mesh well when we usually have four other guys on the floor who you would rather be taking shots.
He’s not a great playmaker and if he’s not scoring it’s hard to justify minutes. Tonight I actually thought he played well outside of shooting. He was active with his ball pressure, snuck in for a bunch of rebounds, and didn’t stick with the ball too much. Even then though, there’s obvious limitations.
He looked great in preseason but he was playing a role that he’ll never have here barring massive injuries. PP just isn’t going to get 15+ shot attempts a night and if he isn’t the kind of guy who can get hot without needing a bunch of touches then it’s tough to justify not trading him eventually.
Impossible-Animal569
He’s gotten worse each season in the NBA.
And bitched about deserving more play time in the off season. He got it, and is terrible.
He’s trying to do too much and is trying to be the guy to run the offense.
I’ve noticed he’s iced out Tatum when they play together. Tatum only touches the ball when someone else passes to him, or the inbound goes to him. If Tatum is in with PP, PP will NOT pass it to him. He deliberately avoids giving him the ball.
WarPuig
The Celtics can’t trade Pritchard for a year btw
Jonny_Syphilis
How can anyone picture this dude ever playing a big role in a big game.

I’ve been saying this from the start and have just been told to calm down but something ain’t right. I want him to do well, I really do but idk guys. Something is off
thereal_kphed
he’s been atrocious. root for all our guys but yeah.
SultanofSwish
He’s never been any good
Touge_Monster
I thought he looked a little better with passing and playing d without fouling so much tonight. But 0 points does hurt.
OwlSilly
His two best skill sets are shooting/scoring & creating best shot opportunities for his teammates. He hasn’t even been average in those two areas where he is expected to excel at with the extra minutes he’s getting. On top of that the dude is a below average defender who has to get hid on defense or he will get exposed by a bigger and stronger player. He will either need to step up and get consistent on the offensive end or he needs to get traded.
mrhjt
Eye check shows he has the yipes. His outside shot has disappeared with his confidence. The rebounding and assists are nice but not what he needs to provide. I hope he bounces back

The problem is, that Joe Mazulla doesn’t allow the bench players to get reps in during the regular season. This season so far (especially), everybody on the team and THE team itself is trying to make a statement so every game is either close or we’re blowing them out. With every game being close Payton is in limbo cause each possession matters so he isn’t trying to fuck up cause he knows he’s just out there so other players can catch their breath.
Now with the blowout, They try to extend leads as much as possible this year to show discipline and maturity. We all remember how last year they would be up by 20-30 on the Pacers, Pistons, Magic, etc and so how they blow the lead. Well they’re trying to work on that, and that directly affects Payton again cause he starts chucking up 3s and missing then the lead disappears fast.

I think he is just not an option for this offense. When he was let off the leash in pre season I was thinking about putting money on him being MIP for the year. I don’t see his struggles as being based on his skill level or his confidence, it just seems like it’s more of a function of this offense for him and his place in it. He gets put on the floor and facilitates the game by moving the ball. I just don’t think he thrives in this system. I’m not making excuses for him, when he gets on the floor he should dominate because he really is a crazy good player.
PineappleHotSalsa
Hasn’t played that well. However he has been getting decent boards and assists in a few of the games he’s scoreless. He’s only averaging 4 FG per game, it’s his first season getting regular PT. I would say give him a little longer to get a bigger sample size before completely checking out on him.
Fresh_Ostrich4034
He too little. Those defenders were sending his shots into the 4th row.
