@San Antonio Spurs

Even with a defensive game changer like wemby it is appalling how many points we are giving up per game with the second worst defense in the league

Yes, the team is young but man is this horrible:

  1. So…. Defense has improved from last season?

  2. Bonesawisready5

It’s a miracle we are only second worst

This is a major improvement tbh, I think last season we gave up the most points since the 1990 nuggets.

  4. Spurs had historically bad defense last year and all they really did is add Osman and Wemby to the rotation. That’s not enough to really turn things around, especially when they apparently can’t figure out how rotating works and give up the most open 3s I’ve ever seen.

One issue i see is I think they don’t really trust his rim protection that much in that, I still see guys collapsing and helping off of their shooters when wemby is already in the paint. It’s an easy kickout every time

yep, i was expecting a decline after vassell getting hurt, but did not think it meant we turned into the washington generals.

If our defense is still this bad in the second half of the season I would be worried, but I am fine with it to start. We had a million different lineups last season, making good team defense impossible. With stable lineups they should eventually figure each other out. I think our second half of the season defense should be decent.

I wouldn’t really look at any stats for the first like month and a half in the season, stats change way too much and 1 game can massively influence everything. Wemby went up like 5 whole points per game after his 38 piece and he went from low 40% shooting all the way up to nearly 50%. Another example is the raptors were 28th in the league in assists but were only like 3 assists behind us 26 to 29. The 2 massive blowouts where neither the clippers or pacers could miss skews the defense pretty drastically, if u want a more realistic representation average out all the other games and that should be more representative of the team as a whole

If we don’t move some players by the end of the year then I’m going to start to worry. We have a ton of trade assets that we seem to just sit on. We need legit vets to help Wemby not a team full of fourth options.

Defense takes energy. Back to backs take energy. Young people are bad at managing their energy.

schedule loss? Copium? It can be both

Keldon Johnson was one of the worst defenders in the league. We are without our best wing defender in vassell. Our bench is terrible. Obv our defense as a whole is gonna be bad.

Edit: oh and wemby is playing like SF out there which pulls him away from the basket.

People forget that this was a team that made Bones Hyland look like the best player on the floor in an actual NBA game

Here is the reason, it’s simple, and I have been saying this for a while. We don’t rebound well. It’s hard to play defense when the other team can just miss 3 times per trip.

you guys are trippin so hard sometimes man. Its fucking week TWO on the NBA season and we have a YOUNG team that is NOT BUILT TO COMPETE FOR ANYTHING. Why the fuck is it so doom and gloom in here? Are you guys not realistic to what is going on?

  15. XxFierceGodxX

Yeah, this is definitely our big weakness right now.
