“Even after a historic triple-double, Nikola Jokic knew he wasn’t the story of the night.
“I can just talk, because I know what you’re going to ask,” Jokic said to start his press conference after Denver’s 134-116 win over the Pelicans on Monday at Ball Arena.
Jokic put up 35 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists to pass LeBron James and Jason Kidd to stand alone in fourth place on the NBA’s career triple-doubles chart with 108. Still, he began his press conference by praising a player with zero career triple-doubles.
“Ready, guys?” Jokic asked.
“Yes, Julian was really good today. He had a really big impact. He brought us the energy that we needed.”
That would be rookie Julian Strawther, who had the first double-digit scoring performance in the eighth game of his first NBA season. The 21-year-old from Gonzaga put up 21 points on 13 shots. He went 5 of 9 from 3-point range and added a couple of rebounds and one assist.”

It’s no bother. We’ve got Strawther. 🙂

We all had high hopes when he was first drafted but idk if we expected him to fit in this quickly. All offseason we knew we needed the younger guys to step up if we wanted a chance to repeat and right now it’s looking like they’re fitting in perfectly
