Where them haters at?

  1. I generally hate the use of “haters” because it gets way overused and used incorrectly. But I do think the Dillon Brooks situation absolutely has been more about hating than just differing opinions. IMO mostly from him talking trash to LeBron and failing hard and getting owned. And of course fans generally like LeBron and his side gets exposed to the media a lot more than some role player in Memphis. So it resonates more with people. Beyond that nothing suggest Brooks was anything but a normal guy off the court with no history of troubles like Ja or KPJ had.

If you judged Dillon Brooks purely on his play on the court and his contract, there were only two major issues one can say. One was that the Rockets were bidding against themselves cause everyone else was only willing to give him the MLE. The other was that he took too many bad shots and those needed to come down. But if you think about it neither of these issues warrants major hate. One is completely solvable by coaching and the other unfortunately is fact of life when you’re a shitty team where FAs come in with nearly no chance to compete. These are legit concerns but they don’t belong in the “omg sky is falling” responses that were seen everywhere in the offseason.
