Are you guys forgetting how atrocious Norm used to be in the first 10 games?

Norm
Bixby33
Is this the answer to your question? No, but I’ll say it anyway.
24 year old Gary was better than 24 year old Norm.
Rare-Profile6867
Norm can shoot drive and is a willing passer. He’s undersized but is a great bench player
jyh123
it doesn’t matter. they are both bench role players and doesn’t move the needle enough to say we should have kept X or paid Y.

How many times a week are we going to post this same question?

Thought this trade would pay off in the long run.It hasn’t.

I would be happy if I never see this question asked again.

It’s largely a wash. Given that he grew up in our system, has some of the most iconic Raptor moments in recent memory (that dunk against the Pacers is one of my favorite Raptor moments), I probably prefer that we just keep Norm.

Norman by a mile by a margin
He’s a consistent scorer that’s willing to pass the ball and is an exceptional backup guard in this league . Garry is sadly lost his scoring ability but even when he’s at his best he doesn’t really help us a lot when compared to what Norman has done with the clippers and raptors.

Still have faith in GTJ, but the answer is clearly Norm.
Norm on our current roster would be nice. Great driver, can shoot it well and loved me them big hops. Fun player to watch and seemed like a great dude.

Norman Powell is the better player today but he’s 30 years old and has reached his peak. Gary Trent Jr is 24 and currently better than Norman was at the same age and still has a few years of development left within him.
laidbackemergency
Norm is 6 years older than Gary, but at his age Norm was the better player (not by a ton tho imo, he was still streaky).
Punjabiveer30
What most in this sub fail to realize is it took years for Norman Powell to become this consistent, he was fairly inconsistent for a good 4 years as a raptor, his consistency only came after Kawhi left

Norm is family

Easily Norm and I was a big supporter of the trade.
Huge-Split6250
Norm would be awesome on this team, but he wouldn’t improve our record
da_reddit_reader
Norm is better overall. GTJ can’t drive with authority or make plays happen. Very one dimensional. At least a pesky defender at times.
jamiecballer
Same as it was then. Norm by a lot.
Kevita24
GTJ is an excellent player, but he’s not a good playmaker and he’s not really a great off-ball player which causes issues in a system the calls for everyone to be able to play make-and-shoot off-ball lol
GTJ is what he is…he’s a career 15-20ppg, elite shooter, and pretty good defender, but he’s a horrible playmaker and he’s not much of an off-ball player…he’s a guy you have come off the bench in an Iso heavy system when you need a spank…he’s a guy who can give you 30 point in a half if needed but he’s a bit of a offensive liability when not scoring
He would be great in another system, stick him on the Lakers or 76ers and he would be great IMO but he’s having trouble in this new system because, again, it doesn’t suit him

Remember when norm had that crazy dunk in the playoffs? That shit was hype af

Norm has played a bit better but nothing that would have changed the Raptors fundamentally. You still do that trade 10/10 for the upside play.

GTJ was sick in Portland but Norm’s better now
