Loss hurts but they’re still down 5 rotational pieces, including 2 starters. Nothing to worry about. Good game to the rockets

  2. BobMarleynthewhalers

Tough loss. Shoutout to Dyson and Hawkins for stepping up. We still need to find our identity. We rely way to much on iso plays. I also think we just need to shoot more and live with the results. We just drive and drive and its clealy not working. im sad.

  3. Mycatspiss

That stupid fuckin hook pass turnover just sold my parlaym Zion is the laziest piece of shit ever. Bum

  4. I’m going back to streaming shit illegally. No way am I giving the NBA anymore of my money to watch the refs fuck us.

  5. Our team is so depleted we have no firepower. Honestly kind’ve impressive how competitive we’ve been.

  6. Razor-Ramon-Sessions

Tough loss. Could have won if we didn’t spam BI late in the 4th. That was the wrong move.

    Dyson played great.

Zion looked more active. Idk if it is because he’s out of shape but we need to go to the big fella in the 4th. That is crazy to go to BI in that scenario.

  7. BI 5 AST – 4 TO

    Zion 1 AST – 5 TO

27 points allowed over turnovers. Unacceptable.

  8. jacobythefirst

    I am beyond furious

God damn refs deciding to just swallow their whistle as Brooks grabs bumps and shoved BI at the end of the game, and giving them the momentum

  9. Wrecker1127

I’m sick of sucking. I’m more sick of every year not being able to close games.

  10. out_STAN_ding

What’s really rancid is only 7 bench points.

  11. I know we’re short-handed but we just lost to a fucking team who gives meaningful minutes to Jaelen Green, Dylan Brooks and Fred Vanvleet..

  12. Games like this shows me how important CJ is. That kind of experience and ball control in big games is invaluable

  13. reggie3408

That last few games have been so bad I’m just happy it wasn’t more than 5 point loss

  14. leemojames

One of the most frustrating losses I’ve ever sat through, plenty to work on for the Pels but watching Sengun, Brooks, FVV and Green drive into our players throw their heads back and consistently get rewarded was infuriating

  15. Loves the fight in the team tonight. Hated the last 5 min

  16. Time for my biannual mental health break from watching these games. See y’all after a win or two.

  17. UnimpressedAsshole

This team does not value the ball. Especially our stars, BI and Zion make some awful turnovers regularly.

The team is missing two starters and probably the 6th and 7th or 8th men. Pels are deep af but they need more higher end talent, and a more cohesive roster.

A move should absolutely be made to upgrade the starting or backup center. Consolidate some of our assets into a better big man. Only so many people can see the floor anyway.

  18. asapshrank

Obviously the pels need health, we win this if herb trey and jose are out there, but it couldn’t be more clear that what else we need is a new coach. Willie Green can’t coach winning basketball.

  19. hardenoverjordan

Green didn’t put Zion and Ingram in any actions this game, every time Zion sets a screen for Ingram he gets a wide open shot. Once Dillon brooks switched on to Ingram that was the perfect time to try it.

  20. If we are ten games under 500 come mid jan…blow it up. Play for the pick and a very hard reset. Only want to keep TM3. Others are available.

  21. maejor_ced

If you still think Green is the right coach for this team, then you’re delusional

  22. One-Purpose-5953

    INJURIES:
Can only say it so many times. We were missing 4 guys from our top 8 rotation.

Yes we had our stars but the quality of the league is so that you need pieces around them to compliment them. Apart from a short Hawkins burst & Jonas everyone else didn’t really offer much.

Imagine the rockets without Brooks, FVV, Jabari & Tate tonight for example. They’d be cooked.

    COACHING(?):
Our players seem so hell bent on running mechanical/junky sets to the death. There is a lack of autonomy and creativity that I think is essential when you have stars like BI & Zion, who aren’t necessarily what you’d call conventional.

Whenever the pels are at their best they play free with an aggressive edge.

When they are at their worst they take 10 seconds before they even make the FIRST PASS. Gross.

I don’t know what the core of this issue is but it happens every game where pels switch back and forth from a great style of basketball to a very sun par style. Honestly goes from looking like a playoff team to a high lottery team quarter to quarter.

  23. RaspberryOld6983

I’m tossing this game out of the window. A few good things to take away from tonight, and then I’ll get to the bad. The good?

    1. Jordan Hawkins. Love this kid; when he’s not in the game our offense stinks. Makes rookie mistakes, but has flashes of incredible shot making. Our only player at the moment who can shoot the 3 and isn’t a turnstyle on D (still live you though Matt Ryan)
    2. BI shooting from 3. Not great percentage wise, but the fact that he was consciously taking more 3s is a great sign. Just needs to knock them down more; I know its tough when his game is great in the midrange, but you can see that there was a change. He needs to be shooting just as much as he did tonight with Zion on the court.
    3. Shoutout for getting Robinson-Earl. Great peice for our team so far.

    The bad?

    1. What the actual fuck Larry? I’m so flabbergasted.
    2. Our FO is in the hot seat for not getting a backup big. I’ve screamed it for awhile now and will continue to do so. Larry, as mentioned above, is not a good 5. He can’t shoot, he can’t rebound effectively, he gets bullied by actual 5s, and makes extremely questionable decisions every night. He’s a great locker room guy, but thats it right now. Its tough for me to say this just so you know.
    3. The coaching….Where do I start? Or is the players and lack of execution? I don’t know, but something has to change.

Yes, I know we’re missing players. Just like we do every year. But Jiminy Cricket our execution is god awful at times, even when fully healthy. On that note, I freaking miss CJ man.

  24. Julep2005

I love green as a person. And I truly don’t think he’s an awful coach. But he is not the guy for this team. We were down a lot but our roster was still better than theirs in an important game. Better coaches and we would’ve won that one.

  25. I’m proud of our boys tonight. I’m not even going to bash Willie Green.

The officiating completely changed that game in the 4Q. This is the reason the NBA is struggling to grow their audience outside of younger viewers…who don’t remember what the NBA used to be.

Physicality has been completely removed from the game. The Rockets won tonight…because their players are better actors.

A foul in the 4Q…isn’t called in the 1Q. There is no consistency to the officiating. Jonas gets the hell beat out of him…never gets a call. Dillon Brooks gets 5 fouls early…plays aggressive defense in the 4Q…never gets called for a foul.

I was proud of the fight from the Pels tonight. Sure…Willie Green can improve…and the decision making in the 4Q needs work. But NBA officiating is complete shit…and changed the entire dynamic of that 4Q

  26. BurntHamSandwich

Dyson looked much much better this game, gave 110% effort all game, Zion worked much harder on the glass too. We needed to give Z the ball more in the fourth

  27. My thoughts post game: This game kind of sucked. We did okay for the first three quarters and then tried to hold on to the lead for the final 3 minutes and let the game slip away from us. We tried coasting there at the end and then we turned the ball over on way too many possessions. Didn’t have the depth to make a 3 when it mattered to freeze them out. Fred VanVleet is a solid sharpshooter.

I think once Naji, Trey, Jose and CJ are all back we get better, but these injuries have us (minimum) -4 players on our roster early in the season. We’re having to give valuable minutes to Matt Ryan and Seabron rn because we’re short handed. Not shitting on the guys, they’re cool, but I think they’re going to have a lot more DNPs/garbage time after our guys are all recovered. Hopefully by this time next month they’ll all be back and we’re playing a lot better.

I also really missed having Hernangomez during Cody Zeller’s play time. Pretty sure that wasn’t the best way to replace a backup big we could’ve done in the offseason.

  28. No_Chipmunk_3832

Udoka would’ve beaten a Willie green rockets by 20+… we might have a serious problem

  29. Existing-Sell-3675

I missed the 2nd half but I’m guessing Willie didn’t run a single Zion + Bi pick and roll play.

  30. TrusttheProcess13

Very winnable game. Hawkins fouling out hurt a good amount at the end, refs were bad, late game execution was fucking awful, and injuries are also hurting the record rn…. The injuries cannot be understated tho, literally if one of Jose, CJ, TM3 or Herb play, they win that game. It’s good experience for Dys and Hawk but still sucks to lose winnable games

  31. Lyte_Work

This team folds like goddamn Seven-Deuce in poker when you pressure them.

  32. the two best players in that game were dillon brooks and fred vanvleet, not brandon ingram and zion williamson. dillon absolutely physically and mentally dominated both BI and Zion, and he put Zion in the weight room numerous times in the fourth quarter. I’m a big Dillon fan but that can’t happen to two guys on max contracts. ONE guy has to go off at least

  33. BaronsDad

The Pelicans are averaging the 3rd fewest points in the league with the 5th worst point differential.

We now have back-to-back games against Dallas, followed by a game against Denver, and then we get Minnesota again. We might end up with an 8 game losing streak.

  34. ToothEducational7795

Man then we play Dallas 2 times, Denver, Minnesota, Sacramento 2 times, LA Clippers. We might go 0-7 if we play like this.

  35. Impressive-Theory-27

I’ll probably get hate for this, but has anyone noticed something off with Z, he’s just not as good as he was years past

He’s got virtually the same usage, but he’s shooting 1 more fga compared to last year at a 10% worse fg percentage on average (60% to 50%) he’s averaging the same rebounds as he always has as well as assists, he’s also shooting atrociously from the FT, worst in his career at 60% (down 11% from last year)

It’s a small sample and I’m hoping he does round back into old Zion but, if we’re talking about Bi, we need to also mention Z

  36. sprewellJ

Zions game has not evolved in any area since entering the league it feels like
