[Roth] Jaden Ivey, the 5th pick of the 2022 NBA draft, is not traveling with the team. Detroit claims it’s an illness but he’s 21, does not have covid and tonight will be his 4th game missed in a row.

Not really Raptors related but he could be a trade target if we trade either OG or Siakam and it’s interesting how Detroit has seemingly stopped playing him even when he was healthy.

He’s not happy coming off the bench for Killian Hayes. Wth is Monty thinking, even Sasser is better than Killian.

Nah man we’re playing this season out, Scottie is an all star

I understand the rest but what does him being 21 have to do with anything?

  4. Apprehensive_Oil_484

Would not give siakam for ivey and filler lol

  5. peroper7

Siakam would be great in Detroit, it’s the most win-win deal on the market

If we get Ivey out of it? We’re rolling

I follow both these teams closely and I think he actually just had the flu. Detroit is already missing 7 players so they don’t want Ivey to get more people sick. He was back in the gym doing light warmups today

Is it so hard to believe someone could take 2 weeks to get over an illness?

Detroit people (probably a few here because the city is close to the border?)
What’s the deal with Ivey this year? Last year he looked like he could be the next star. Athleticism of Ja, not a complete negative on defense. Shoots the ball a little below average, but was shouldered with all of the pg duties last year and probably learned a lot.

But this year he hasnt played at all

I don’t think there’s much value in speculating about this. There’s a similar situation I saw this week in soccer where Burley’s striker Lyle Foster missed a handful of games because of “illness” and then the team announced he was going to seek mental health treatment.

Not saying that’s what’s happening in this case but you sometimes you really have no clue what’s going on behind the scenes. I think this needs to play out more.

The “but he’s 21” part is so random lol

It does seem like Monty isn’t using Ivey so he could definitely be a trade target

Detroit isn’t playing a guy that you suspect isn’t playing for non health related issues and you think the raps should trade for him???????? Maybe we should also trade for harden and kyrie too.

Monty has flat out stated that he’s not just handing minutes out, they have to be earned.

Sasser has absolutely earned his time on the floor, as had Killian being their best perimeter defender.

Ivey’s unfortunately the odd man out since his ability on O overlap w Cayde and Sasser who are just doing better than him in that role.

who is Matt Roth, just some random person on social media?

  17. kaiyoukhan

But he’s 21 he can’t have an illness

Listen, I like Ivey but he doesn’t put in an effort on the defensive end…I get what Monty is trying to do, he’s an old-school coach and he’s not having guys out there dragging ass, he’s trying to build a culture and if you’re not going to buy in then you can ride the pine…

Ivey had a ton of upside but he’s been a pylon on defense and you can’t have that…
