[Bondy] Tom Thibodeau sounds like he’s out of excuses for Julius Randle’s slump

This article was written after the Bucks game and mentions clearly the steps that Randle had needed to take to improve. Ironically no mention of any injury affecting Randle.

  1. This quote from Randle clearly shows what his issue was earlier in the season and the steps he’s taken to improve over the last few games.

“For me personally, I think I can just play off the catch, play off the move a little bit more,” said Randle, who entered Saturday’s games with the NBA’s worst effective field-goal percentage (31.8) among players with at least 120 minutes. “For me less isolation, getting into pick-and-rolls, just playing on the move more, rather than just catching it and staring at defenders.”

  2. Thibs might be out of them, but Randle’s stans will keep them going so he doesn’t have to worry.

I don’t care about any of this stuff anymore I just know Julius is stagnant and while he’s good I rather than focus on RJ, Brunson, and Mitch and being in another forward

Wait I thought the reason for all this was his ankle?

We gotta get out of this black and white approach. Nuance exists. It is possible that Randle’s poor play in the first couple games was a combination of 1) His ankle not being 100% and him trying to regain his rhythm *AND* 2) Randle made several mistakes on the court and his decision-making wasn’t the best.

I think the criticisms listed in the article is fair, but none of it negates the fact that his ankle is probably part of the reason why he struggled out the gates.

I find nothing wrong with the article tho.
